It was a near-utopia before global warming made the summers really bad.

Unless you were black of course.  :P
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

There's a fine line between salvation and drinking poison in the jungle.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

Okay, it was not a political utopia. -_-

IDE how does one get a 5.01?

Bad movie with elements of value that make it sort of worth watching, if you like that kind of shit.

How does it differ from a straight 5, in practical terms?
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Ideologue

Hardly anything.  5.01 means I didn't feel like my time was totally wasted by watching it.  5 means I did.

Quote from: derspiess on December 12, 2016, 01:31:00 PMSpeaking of porch lights, a lot of naive neighbors are using red light bulbs to be "festive".  I guess they have no idea what a red light means.

I don't know if it's naive given how red light is not actually used to denote whore houses these days (if it ever was).

It is around these parts.

If your scale is really 5-10, why not change the numbers to 1-5?
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I noticed a trend.  The idiots who keep liking Breitbart articles on facebook almost always have a confederate flag somewhere in their picture album.

I noticed a trend. Raz spent too much time studying Breitbart and now he's cuckoo.  :hmm:

I didn't say I actually looked at Breitbart's webpage.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Ooh, that's gotta hurt.

Glad you didn't get burned or indeed shot by an other enthusiastic colleague/serviceman who thought it might be a failed car bombing.
