In other German strike news, public Kindergartens will go on strike on Friday for an indefinite period (though I don't know how widespread it'll be, or if it will be in all geographical areas - often such strikes focus on a few high impact areas).

Bad idea. Parents who can't unload their children will be pissed off and then you get all the politicians who wants to please those parents attacking you. No no. What they should do is play the long game and raise those children to be proper socialists. Like in the 70s.

Wait..

My local paper has an FAQ on the topic. Because the strike was announced two days in advance, employed parents can't just stay away from work; it's expected that they organize a substitute to take care of the kids. If they want to stay home or work from home they will need their employer's approval. (It's similar with railroad strikes if there was enough forewarning, usually a day or two)

It is dumb to close on Friday and Saturday.  Surely he could hire some gentile help?

I don't have any objection to the name and have no idea what the "street food" argument is supposed to mean.  There are a fair number of sit-down Levantine restaurants just here in Columbia.

I think that to be Kosher you have to close for Shabbat. I assume a lot of his clientele is jewish and trying to keep kosher.

The street food angle--the analogy would be a hot dog vendor in NYC. You think the concept would work in Israel Egypt Tokyo so you rent a largish restaurant space in a wealthier area to set up as a hot dog vendor. It doesn't make sense--even if there is a market in Tokyo for hot dog vendors, and in Tokyo for American cuisine that demands a large restaurant--it is a poor pairing.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)
