I think I might post in this thread today...maybe not.
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Have I reached 1,000 yet?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I forget how many posts I need to remove the taint.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

You need 1,000

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

Had a go at Dave's Ultimate Insanity Sauce a few days ago on a dare. Pretty damn hot. It made me tear up a bit. The other guy who tried it started crying his face off and literally ran out of the room screaming.

All in all, I held up pretty well compared to some of the horror stories I've heard about it. I wouldn't use it for more than a few dips, though.

While SF is flooded with fags (:x), I'm hiding in the suburbs putting in an impromptu 10 hour day at work.

Why are you upset by that?

Well I'm upset to be working and I'm upset to have the city flooded with prideful vacationers.  Last night I witnessed an impromptu march* of 30 or so people who were screaming out queer power and class war. It's embarrassing really...and now I have to head to shitty restaurants if I actually want to sit down at a table in my lifetime.

*although I did get my first glimpses of topless trannies so that was interesting.

How viable would a 100% peanut butter diet be?

And would I have to upgrade my toilet/plumbing?

I think you'd have to upgrade your anus.

Quote from: Neil on June 27, 2009, 09:01:10 AMNo.  The Electorate of Hannover was in a personal union with the United Kingdom, but it was never under British rule.  That's why when Victoria became Queen, she couldn't assume the Electorate:  A woman couldn't inherit under Hannoverian law.
I wonder why they didn't change the law. Compared to other possessions, surely Hanover was quite valuable. Or did they want to disentangle from continental politics perhaps?
