He's claiming 51% of the vote. Considering his structural advantage, state backing and massive propaganda machinethis means the election was stolen.

I think that's how the Republicans decided that Acorn Stole the election for Obama last year.
What did the exit polls say?

I'd like some proof that he cheated before I condemn him. Concluding he won therefore he cheated seems silly to me.

If he cheated and lost, he didn't do it right!
Better that Maduro won. That whole system is on the verge of a nasty breakdown.
If he only claimed 51% and stole it I applaud his restraint.

Good point. I have no idea where the chips will fall, but there seems to be some serious factionalization just within the Chavista ranks. Who knows, we could have a three-way conflict between the militia, army, and the huge well-armed gangs before it's all over.

That what Chavez did for the referendum. Cheated up to 51% to make it look realistic.
I think the recount, if it happens, should be based upon which guy wore more variations of Venezuelan track suits and hats throughout the campaign.
Anyway, I'm comforted to know that Maduro is such a thoughtful & pious man:

He's a fucking Leninist, it's an act.
I think you've misunderstood Latin America if you think being a Catholic and a Marxist are contradictory
Maduro looks like a spokesman for Just for Men.
The fucker played the augur in a Catholic church. That alone is grounds for ridicule.

True, but the Catholic thing seems to be show in this particular case (and in Chavez's).

Maybe, I mean we can't see into their souls. But in fairness Catholicism's more showy :P
To me it looks more like those Catholic football players crossing themselves before a game. It could be sincere, superstitious, cultural, just a ploy to get the old lady vote or a bit of all of the above
The US still hasn't recognized the results of the election, for whatever that's worth. Kind of an easy one to get right, but kudos to Obama & Lurch nonetheless.

Fucking pricks.
Chavist Venezuela is a variant on Marx's dictum that history repeats itself, first as farce, and then as an even more absurd farce.
