I know Ed has an iPad-dedicated thread, but I just have a lowly Touch.
What are some good games for it? In particular any intriguing strategy games out there?
Try the ticket to ride games. They have ones for iPhone. And they give out for free every so often.
Building choo choos is fun.
Ticket to Ride games are good. There are a lot of good board game ports. Tikal, Le Havre, Tigris & Euphrates, Caylus.
*takes notes*
Good, good.
Galaxy Fire is said to be pretty good.
Bard's tale?
Infinity Blade.
So far...
Ticket to Ride is fun. Seems like it'd be better on an iPad - really hard to see on the Touch.
Le Havre - unlike TTR which had a nice tutorial, this jumps dumps you into a bunch of text rules at the start. Haven't managed my way through them yet.
Infinity Blade - was free. Looks pretty. Haven't even made it out of the intro however.
Not recommended, but on my Touch:
Fruit Ninja - Surprisingly fun for such a simple game.
Wipe Out - fuck I can't manage to make it past the first obstacle.
Tetris - I don't like how they adjusted it for touch - seems like it takes the challenge out of it.
a handful of "free" games that just time gate you for anything you want to do - garbage.
Really I think I should be exploring the board games section some more. And wondering about KoDP, but suddenly $10 seems inordinately expensive. :D
King of Dragon Pass.

King of Dragon Pass.
Absolutely.
Also Year Walk seems to be interesting...and Minecraft Pocket.

Neat game. Don't expect an RPG though; it's its own unique little combat simulator and meditation on doing things over and over again.
Plants v zombies is free. Or was.
Plants vs Zombies 2 seems to be very entertaining. :)
Clash of Clans.
This look quite promising.

MOO2 like space 4x with turn based asynchrounous multi-player?
Bought.

Starbase Orion is good fun.
Have you tried MP yet PRC?

Have you tried MP yet PRC?
No, i've only ever played against the AI.
If we can get a couple more people to buy it, I would love to give a Languish MP game a shot.
How does MP work? Do you all have to play at the same time, or do you send turns back and forth, or what?
Games does look interesting. Think I'll break out the old credit card on this one tonight.
Don't they teach lawyers what the word "asynchronous" means in law school?

No. No they don't. <_<
I can't blame them, to be honest.
No, apparently their latest update (and they seem to be updating this pretty regularly) stores the game on their server, and any player can take their turn whenever they like, and it will generate once everyone has a turn in, or it reaches some pre-defined time limit.
PRC, what is your IOS gamertag?
I am Berkut0412.
I bought Starbase Orion and played around with it last night. Pretty much a MOO2 clone, but that's not a bad game to clone.
I'm still just feeling my way around, but I'd be up for trying some MP.
I just couldn't get into the lite version. Maybe I've got Space burnout.
Or SPACE MADNESS
I think my gamer tag is Dr. Maturin... Berkut, I just tried adding you in gamecentre.
I added you to my Gamecenter, but cannot seem to add you to my Friends list in Orion...hmmm...
Your name is in my Starbase Orion Friends list, says your offline though. Beeb, you want to join in?
Yukon Barrister is my tag. I'm definitely up for some MP action, but because I'm playing on an iPod I won't be online till tonight.
I switch back and forth between my phone and iPad.
Okay, so now I'm friends with PRC, and sent a friend request to Berkut. I'm in for some MP action.
OK, started a new game. Lets give this a shot...
The MP framewaork for this is so much more well developed at first pass than Eclipse.
I've joined the game... interesting "leader ban" option! Any comments on what race you chose or should you keep that revealed for "first contact"?
I passed on the ban, I just like the idea that you only get leaders for a certain length of time.
I chose those bird things. I think.
The Draske? Whelp, you must be a long lost off-shoot colony of my own race! That's all right, like Vulcans and Romulans we're cousins and being family it's only right that we team up on any "barrister" like race out there.
I'll get started tonight, but to warn you it might be pretty late. Been a busy day today and, surprisingly, I have plans tonight.
Got move in. It, of course, took 30 seconds.
I think these early turns will be a bit annoying. Not much going on so you want to crank through the turns, but unless we're all playing at the same time it'll go pretty slow.
Yeah, would like to see some configurable "please just process turn until something interesting happens" ability.
Although I'm impressed - we're cranking out a huge number of turns tonight. sure, nothing much is happening, but is sure beets doing nothing at a turn per night...
The nice thing about the iPad is you can sit there doing other things...
The early start may have been a mistake (though that's how I'd usually play MOO2 (I think it's been awhile)).
It feels like only now am I getting somewhere.
Agreed. The early start in MP is just kind of pointless.
This game is really quite good.
The game itself is not super awesome with cool graphics and all that, but it is "good enough" from a presentation standpoint that you can focus on the game itself, which so far looks like it had some pretty interesting choices and different ways of playing, coupled with a very decent MP framework.
If you own an iPad and like wargaming at all, you should get this.

Yeah, this game is pretty tight and our MP session has been quite fun so far. Would love to try a session with more than three players.
When I get back up home this weekend, I may hit it up.
Wait, what?
I wasn't sure what happened, but I may have "quit" our game? WTF - can I get back in??? This was purely by accident.
How did you manage that?
I can't see how to bring someone back in.
Restart?
Habs, get in on a new MP game. Anyone else?
That was weird, game was going well. I'd be up for restart, would love to see if we could get some more players in there.
Yeah, I think we should restart with advanced empires. All it does is fully populate your home system, and gives you a larger starting fleet. You still start at the same tech.
Gets things moving a bit faster. I think the leaders are mostly bunk - they are just too powerful. I say play without them.
Definitely would like some more players though.
Not sure why people aren't jumping all over this.

Really sorry guys. No sure what I did - was trying to leave the game to do something else, saw something about "quitting the game" and hit "yes" without thinking.
Agree with all of your thoughts - more players would be awesome, advanced start is probably the way to go, and didn't care for leaders very much.
We probably didn't do a very good job at selling this game though - we were too quiet. Guys, if you have an iOS device, you want to play this.
I'm in. My username thing should be "Ton1trus"
I'm good with those starting options, no leaders is fine. Would you want to try custom races?
Suppose I'm in. This better not turn into Eclipse.
I fucked up my race choice!
I hit play by accident.
Started the game 30 minutes ago and already waiting on Beeb.
:P

And you're going to be waiting for a few hours yet. I can only play at night.
Why are we allowing vampires to play with us?

He's an easy mark. After he "accidently" quit our game the AI took over and in one turn completely turned around the course of his empire.
Sorry folks. iPod was accidentally left at work. No Orion plays from me tonight. :(
Star Command has come to Android!
This has me intrigued:
