Option 3: I listen to older songs (e.g. from your "youth") mainly or exclusively

Option 4: I don't actively buy/listen to music

As the thread title says this is mainly for "older" people (30 and up) - I wonder how many of us are mainly stuck on artists and/or songs we grew to like in our teens/twenties and how many of us enjoy the newer music.
I think a lot of 30-somethings will be slightly miffed at being referred to as "middle aged". :P
I enjoy a lot of newer music, but nothing beats the nostalgiac mid-90s tracks.
I can enjoy new songs and artists.
This is ageism.
I keep an ear open for what the kids are listening to as far as alternative and rock.
Except Rap or Hip Hop, don't know anything about it. Don't wanna know.

Actually that's large about her shaming a guy and getting a girl to eat her out.
I don't care if it's about property and casualty insurance lines, like I need close ups of lip smacking. It's offensive.
Okay, Will Hays. :D
:P Don't worry, I'd ban Deth/Speed Metal too. SHITGOAT? SHITCANNED

Well then. She has a pretty voice - too pretty for that song.
On a different note, Marti's favorite news source highlighted that she's seen an increase in sales of her EP since calling Perez Hilton a faggot. I finally bought her EP this week so I guess I'm part of that alarming trend! :D

QuoteBisexual rapper Azealia Banks's feud with fellow performer Angel Haze and gay blogger Perez Hilton, who Banks called "a messy faggot" on Twitter, hasn't hurt her music sales.
Banks's EP 1991 posted an 18% gain in sales last week, with nearly 1,000 copies sold, Billboard reports. Her single "212" was downloaded 3,000 times in the same period, a 3% gain over the previous week. Haze also saw a rise in sales, but all her titles combined sold less than 1,000 copies.
Banks backtracked on her use of the slur toward Hilton, but that didn't satisfy some observers, including GLAAD and gay Scissor Sisters front man Jake Shears.

That's it, I'm outta here.
No more links.
I'd say though the answer is clear - you don't keep up with modern music. :D
Also, Seeds, you'd be upset if you image searched Jake Shears as one of the first ones show him showing off his pubes.
Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Jackie Wilson or Aretha never had to show their pubes.
Modern music is usually quite bad, so I avoid it.
Little of A & B so null vote
Yeah, can't really answer the question. Though I'm in my 40s and set in my ways, and like a lot of the 70s stuff, I'm fairly open minded and do buy new music from new bands from time to time.

Older music is usually pretty bad, too. Sturgeon's Law and all. But if you just avoid it all because most of it is crap, you miss out on the good stuff, too.
I try to find new music through pandora or the morning radio jaunt, but it's kind of hit or miss.
I've nothing against new music in principle. Trouble is there isn't much out there that's even half as good as the music of 10 years ago. Not to mention earlier.
Most old people I know are perfectly willing to discover and enjoy new music. Albeit normally crap new stuff.
I'm well over 30 and up, and I like a mix of new music and old. I tend to listen to the newer stuff, and tend to prefer it over older stuff.
Albums?
Anyway yeah I listen to new stuff, it is what pops up in Pandora and on the radio.
None of the above. I listen to new stuff, but don't find much of it memorable (much like most music in any era is forgettable), but if given a choice, I prefer newer stuff by bands I already rate highly, or else I'd go back to the classics.
I like checking out new bands in my preferred genres. I'm blissfully unaware of what happens in the charts, nevertheless (though I sometimes check them out on Spotify).
I think everyone in this thread should listen to Ke$ha's new album, Warrior.

Well, believe it or not but I don't think I have ever visited Perez Hilton's website.
That being said, at least I know that this messy faggot exists. I have no fucking clue who the nigger cunt who called him that is, though.

The poll options are worded quite precisely - your answer fits A.

I like Scissor Sisters but liked their two original albums more than the recent stuff (although I like "Invisible Light" and "Let's Have a Kiki" songs.
Anyway, I always thought their guitarist is hotter.

Stating this as an objective truth is quite telling. You'll be firmly in category C. :P

Because nobody wants to see him faggoting it up any more than he does normally.
Guess what Marti: There are no slurs for white males.
I'm really curious to know what passes by "new artists" around here.
I like new artists who revisit older schools of popular music. Above all, popular music needs a good melody, and a classic universalism that arises out of unique specific examples of human interaction that we can all understand. This is why catalog songs are so popular and successful; likewise, hard-luck songs, etc.
So, as long as a new artist can create a good popular song, I'll listen. This aesthetic has exposed me to such diverse acts as Aloe Blacc, The Lumineers, Raphael Saddiq, The Menahan Street Band, The Budos Band, Sharon Jones and the DAP Kings, Jill Barber, She & Him, TB Ledford, Steep Canyon Rangers, Red Stick Ramblers, Tarbox Ramblers, Soul Rebels Brass Band, and many others.

Lumineers were a great performance in concert; they had added a few more instruments, and it translated to a bigger arena sound very, very well.
She & Him strike me as a happier, peppier Hem.

Because we choose not to take offense.

Most representative of the state of current music.
Unfortunately, the nature of my job means I need to have at least a cursory knowledge of new artists and artists I generally don't go for (re: any country artist that's emerged in the last 25 years).
However, I've kept an iron-fisted grip on the CD player while we're free of the promo loops corporate sends us... I've noticed that we've all tended towards old-school kinds of music (Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR, some Fleetwood Mac)... aside from the obligatory One Direction CD ( :bleeding: ), the newest thing that's been in the rotation is a Smashing Pumpkins CD.
