Title: Zombie Fire Ants!
Post by: Malthus on May 13, 2009, 03:27:43 PM
Like dawn of the dead, only with more Fire Ants.

Awesomely gruesome. Though I still think the zombie ant fungus is even stranger.

If we can get foreigners to keep reading it, the Chronicle might survive yet. :alberta:

I think the brain controlling fungus is scarier.

Like with the deploy-and-forget meat-eating robots, all I can ask is: What could possibly go wrong? :P

I think there might have been a thread about human toxoplasmosis not that long ago, and how some dude said it affects the behavior of entire societies (like Brazilians).

We should try to infect a human with that shit.  Maybe they'd grow that giant tentacle thing out of their head.  It'd be all Silent Hill-ish.

The article reads as though the fly lays its eggs in one host. If it's a one-to-one predatory thing, I would guess that the likelihood of runaway consumption would be pretty low.

Somebody more competent than me want to clarify this?

That's evolution. They began as Portuguese, and then they contracted something to make them weird.
