Title: Labor Day Weekend
Post by: CountDeMoney on August 30, 2012, 07:22:43 AM
So what are you predatory capitalists doing to celebrate the evil, un-American contributions of Labor that has destroyed America as we know it this weekend?  Mini-vacations?  The traditional bourgeois BBQ?  Last days for the pool?

The college football season kicks off tonight, S. Carolina at Vandy.

Replacing the roof of my shed.

Shit is like 40 years old. Never seen so much rotten plywood.

Be vigilant!

I am going to dress up in red and parade down the streets screaming 'all power to the workers!'

Ok actually I am going swimming.

Today I'm going to review some reports and spend major time with the kids.
Tomorrow, A small cookout for my vassals and female sex slaves.
Saturday, College football until my eyes bleed. The Urban Meyer Experience begins.
Sunday, I shall rest.

Probably hit the pool one more time, do my annual berfday blowout at the Hofbrauhaus, watch WVU run up 60 points on Marshall Saturday, grill up a bunch of steaks I have in the freezer, but otherwise take it easy.  Oh and I have a dentist appointment tomorrow.

Cleaning my house from top to bottom on Saturday and then hit the gym. Having a bunch of friends over to make bread and drink booze (them, not me, fucking ulcer ) on Sunday. Monday will be a "me" day. I plan to hit the gym and then relax in front of the TV, watching hours of House Hunters and House Hunters International, maybe with some Holmes on Homes and Property Brothers mixed in.  :perv:

Reality TV is fake?!  I would hope all those shows are fake.  Geez surely they cannot do enough home renovations for a full TV season every year.  I got to watch hundreds of hours of HGTV while my wife was on bedrest.  I enjoyed it at first but man I was happy when the Olympics started.

It is? :(

I mean I figured it was fairly staged, but thought that there were people who were actually buying homes in the end...

Labour Day is the ultimate CFL weekend, when they run all the rivalries - Stamps-Esks, Argos-Tabbies, and of course, Bombers-Riders.  So I'll probably watch the Bombers get curb-stomped by the Riders yet again. :(  Which is just as well since wth a house full of houseguests we're not going anywhere. :(

We are not sure yet, we could go to the ATL area for DragonCon, Braves game, Georgia Aquarium, or past ATL to Durhamtown Plantation Off Road Park. We could also head north into TN maybe Gatlingburg and some more off road trails. We could go down to the beach which will have great weather after that storm. But all these involve spending $ we don't really have .

So we are leaning to stay in the area, The Wife does not care for camping/lake fishing with all this rain :(. Maybe just go to the state fair, watch football and play PS3 and maybe I'll find someone to hit some muddy trails.

It would seem crazy to me, too, if everything weren't in the two massive, walkway-linked hotels.  As it is, no one has to leave the site unless they want a break from it (and that's what the rooms are for).  They also have some deals (and shuttle busses) running to various things in the city--like the aquarium visit for Con attendees that's held late at night.

For the Lettows out there, one of the panels is Hentai Dubbing.

Gotta' be more specific. Holmes on Homes? Oh hell yeah! That man is fucking hot as hell.  :licklips: Property Brothers? Nice eye-candy, but not up to Holmes standards. Kitchen Cousins? Annoying as fuck, but pretty to look at. Income Property? Do-able, but not all that.

Mike Holmes, Toronto's boy. Making male do-it-yourselfers feel inadequate about themselves in every possible way throughout North America for the last decade.

But seriously - he seems a nice guy. He volunteered this year to rebuild the local playground in High Park when some yahoos burned it down. We use that playground a lot (well, Carl does).

HGTV down here has Love it or List it. Talk about fake.  Don't get me wrong, I still watch it, but it drives me a little crazy. Max despises Hillary and the guy (can't think of his name).

My kids and Max really can't stand the channel, but when I'm in the living room, it's on the entire time, regardless of what's on it.
I mostly tune out house hunters and somewhat enjoy the reno shows, partly for nostalgic reasons and partly because they tend to be focused on getting shit done rather than the drama bitch orgies that make up most of reality TV.

That Hillary and negativity guy show is the exception, which is why I hate it so much.

Nothing planned so far.  I think I'm gonna sleep and play some video games.

That last sentence pretty much answers the question.

Man I had not idea we had so many HGTV addicts on this board.

It's more my wife than me.

I'm a Food Network addict myself.
Cooking Channel is better.

You can't watch Bitchin' Kitchen and believe that.  Has to be the most annoying TV host in the universe.

And me, the only "reality" show I am addicted to is Storage Wars.

Over the holiday weekend, I will probably make a couple of dump runs, clean up the garage after the conversion, trim a window, move some stuff around downstairs, play a little Panzer, BBQ. You know the usual shit.

As well you should. HOwever, Cooking CHannel still shows mostly cooking shows, while Food Network has moved to contests, reality TV, and travelogues.  They are sister channels so there is a lot of crossover. Cooking CHannel had hours of Good Eats last night, while Food Network had equal parts Cupcake Wars and World's Bitchest Contending Chefs Making Gross Crap Nobody But Pretentious Assholes Would Even Think of Eating.

Marshall in a big way over West Virginia. /slips on buffalo head gear

There goes my tradition of making fun of Tony Orlando.
