So my budget laptop turned up last weekend, and it seems upto playing moderately intensive pc games of the last couple of years, so recommend me classics of the last 4/5 years that I've missed out on because I haven't been into gaming and not had the requisite hardward ?
As a guide, I tried the demo of 'Napoleon Total War', which ran ok but I wasn't impressed, so I just got 'Empire Total War' and will be trying that out tonight.
Tried the 'Civ V' demo, but wasn't impressed, the 'Gods and Kings' expansion demo seemed better, but not to the extent of spending $60, I'll pick it up when it's on sale.
I wouldn't mind a decent old school RTS, I think the last ones I played were 'Rise of Nations' and 'Empire Earth I or II'.
I don't do FPS at all, nor am I at all keen on driving games.
What strategy games have I missed out on since I played 'EU2' and 'Hearts of Iron 2' (which I wasn't that impressed by)
Human Revolution might be my favorite non-strategy game of the last 4 years.
Classics of the last 4 years? Wait 2 more, and then ask fahdiz nyuk nyuk nyuk
Medieval Total War II was pretty good. Skip the mod crap, it just adds annoying bloat.
The Teutonic and England campaigns from the expansion were fun.
Well there is the newish Star Craft game. That's RTS and pretty old school. WarGame:European Escalation came out last year or maybe this year. Haven't tried it yet, heard it was good. Company of heroes is bit older, but if you haven't played it you really ought to. A lot of fun. There is the new Combat Mission games as well.

I don't do FPS at all,
I bet if one had some Vickers ack-acks mounted on some fucking handlebars you'd be all into it and shit.
No FPS? Team Fortress 2 is free. Just don't buy the hats.

That would be pretty cool. It would make bike riding much more fun.

Thanks.
I'll find it on steam.
If you can be patient, it'll be on sale regularly for cheap. Cheap cheap.

You know it.
I approve of the new avatars, though there has to be some proper counters in your respective collections.
I'm thinking Jap invasion of Malaya and Belgium WW2 infantry units.
Hey man, that's a WW1 Belgian bicycle unit. Doesn't get much more old school than that!
Hey Mongers, do you play any RPGs? There are some decent ones that came out in the last four years.

In that case find one for those nifty Swiss cycle battalions that had up until like 1995, bound to be one in some cold war game somewhere.

Yes Raz, I'll have to look into that, I used to find some RPG used ok.
I haven't played Skyrim yet but I really like Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas is essentially an expanded and improved Fallout 3. I imagine Fallout 3 would be dull if you played Fallout New Vegas first. Dragon Age came out with in the last four years ( I think), and it was pretty good, it's an attempt to capture the spirit of games like Balder's Gate. Haven't tried the sequel heard it was mediocre. Legend of Grimrock came out last year and I've heard was good and I own it but have yet to play it. Suppose to be like the old school RPGs like Eye of the Beholder.

I liked EOB. :)
Well Grimrock is cheap. You can get it at GOG.com (used to be Good old games), for 15 bucks. I got it for half that on a Steam sale.
