Title: Goodbye, old friend
Post by: Scipio on July 26, 2012, 05:43:17 PM
My 7 year old HIPER Type R 580W PSU kicked last night around 2 am.  How do I know?  Because the PSU exhaust fan melted and I awoke to what sounded like a 450 cc Yamaha thumper right next to my head.  It was the powered speakers freaking out because the PSU was carrying just enough juice to cycle the amp on the subwoofer.  OSSUM.

7 years out of a PSU made by a company that had a terrible reputation for build quality and manufacturing.  But it was modular with shiny bayonet-ring modular connectors, which was great.  Also, LASTED 7 YEARS.  Ordered an OCZ modular replacement 700W with high ratings.

I think when I get that new PSU, I'm gonna totally gut the old one and keep the casing.  It's so pretty and shiny after all these years....

Gets worse.  New PSU is great; however, video card doesn't detect HDMI, won't let me use high def.  I am pissed off beyond belief.
