Damn, that's rough. Normally they only leave out the South Africans.
Australians and New Zealanders ... oh, wait, I've been there.. what they speak is only nominally english...
New Zealand English is probally the closest to (posh) British English you'll find outside of England itself. Odd to miss out them. Some Irish are alright too.
But thats a good job, nice pay....
I don't mind moving, but that's a little too far a field for me.
Very nice post. Useful, detailed and informative.
If he doesn't want it, I'll take it then :P
Hey Jaron, what are you up to these days? Are you teaching?
Yes sir, I am. Or was. Economy sucks.

You got laid off from teaching? Where/what were you teaching? That is too bad.
It was a temporary position arranged by my university. I was teaching economics. :P
That's not nearly enough money.
What isn't ? Pay isn't so bad in California.
Tim really doesn't qualify as an American. CdM will back me up here.

This is true.
Uncontrollable spooging to Michael Bay movies does not an American make.

I was. I didn't read the entire thread & wasn't responding to the Emoron post.
Man, I make that money.
But at least I'm someplace civilized.

The UAE is very civilized, Dubai is Monaco-like. Its where all the rich and famous go on holiday.
 They worship Mohammed.

Yeah, they need to add zero on to that. Especially since they want familiarity with Arabic language, that's a high demand skill in the war on islam.

Exactly. That makes the $36,000 offer simply laughable. I am supposed to live in a place that expensive for such a tiny amount?

It does just say the UAE, not Dubai. I don't know how big the variation is between the emirates but I would imagine its there.
And IIRC though there are facilities to cater for the stupidly rich the average people of the country are a bit poorer than a typical western place. At uni in the UK I had a friend from Dubai and she wasn't too rich at all.

And Americans worship Jesus. Both are, if taken alone, indicitive of a lower level of development but they aren't the whole story.
They're paying for accommodations, which is the biggest cost. Hordes of Pakistanis live there on almost nothing, it doesn't have to be expensive unless you want it to be.

As do French, Germans, Chinese, Brits and some brave Arabs. So what.

Yeah, but Jesus never had people decapitated. Mo had the juice, man.

I've got hot girls in miniskirts, alcohol is freely available, and half the population here is atheist. UAE doesn't have anything worthwhile. ^_^
Plus, anyplace the rich and famous like is bound to suck.
