Is this is indeed undoctored gameplay footage - nice. Doesn't say yet which platforms it'll be out on.
Impressive.
Looks like a somewhat less linear Uncharted game.
That does at least look pretty awesome....But then so did a lot of things...
His phone gizmo seems to do a lot of cool stuff but I can;t help but wonder how many of those people will actually use more often than in those one or two missions where you have to use a certain gizmo.
Also, am I the only one annoyed that all such grand scale games these days seem to be set in the US? The decline of Japanese games industry saddens me. And I wish Europeans wouldn't be afraid to admit they're European.
Chicago
It's a Ubisoft game. Built on 360, port to PS3.

Well yes the ubisoft logo is apparent when one clicks on the video. :P
While it looked rather nice and I'll definitely be paying attention to it, I enjoyed the emotional heft of 'The Last of Us' more :

Yeah that is one i'm waiting for.
I really hate these kinds of previews, for both of the referenced games. They are made to look like movies, not like actual gameplay experience. Therefore, you really don't have much to go on when deciding whether this is the game you want. How much choice in actions do you actually get in either game, as opposed to being led on a linear cinematic path and maybe forced to figure out a couple of things to keep you moving on that path? Can't tell from this.

Of all the crap at E3 I think I've been most impressed with Planetside 2. 2000 players on each map

The massive bunny hopping will crack the game world and all the players will be thrown into the core of the planet.

hmm....sure looks cool but I fear the gameplay is rather generic.
And you just know you're gonna be hating that kid, always acting stupid and getting herself killed.
Though I wonder what the relation between the characters are...they don't seem to be father and daughter....and the name...the last of us...I suspect Siegebreaker territory...

Looks great
So this looks like it is finally dropping this month. Anyone still following this? I just saw on wikipedia that it has received 173 pre-release awards. Most hyped game ever?
I still don't know what it's about. As far as I can tell, you are a guy with a magic smart phone who rides on the top of trains rather then inside them.

TL;DR: Ubisoft wowed everyone with the look of Watch_Dogs at E3. Later, they used inferior assets for the PC version, but apparently made the mistake of leaving the E3 assets in the game.
Quote...massive discoveries/improvements. He has discovered that almost all of the shaders and improvements seen in 2012 and 2013 are still in the game files, such as the e3 2012 explosions. For now he has managed to implement dynamic shadows from headlights, the increased rain density, increased NPC density, as well as 2012 e3 bloom and lens flare.
When he manages to unpack certain files, he will be able to activate everything, such as POMs, etc.

And (from same thread):
QuoteOne other thing just surfaced, game is double loading textures on pc, in order to maximize video memory usage. This has been causing stuttering in the retail version. Mod removes this idiocy.
Typical.
But yeah, I've stayed away from this one for now. From what I've read - sounds like bargain bin is where it'll be at.
Yeah, reviews indicate that it's an ok, not a great game.

 I passed. Massively overhyped, apparently.
I figured as much from the lame previews. Games that don't show real gameplay in previews are probably hiding something.
I'm guessing Ubisoft hired Peter Molyneux to consult for them on the game's marketing. :)
I would hire him. He knows how to sell bad games.

Ubisoft never mentioned it but it's basically Assassin's Creed in Modern times. Something they've excluded doing so far.
I like Assassin's Creed. :hmm:

Well apparently it's still selling well, despite the less-than-stellar reviews.
The reviews of this game don't seem to be that bad at all. Looks to be generally around 8ish out of 10.

Right but with the pre-release hype you would have thought Ubisoft reinvented gaming or something with this thing.
Oh, I see what you're saying.
I don't really follow that kind of stuff all that much, so wasn't aware of it getting that kind of hype. All I saw was that one trailer with the gunfight in the street that looked pretty cool, but not super groundbreaking or anything.

Not the PC reviews. It sounded more like a 7 at best which is also something I would shell out 59.99 for.

I have a question. Why would they do that? That doesn't seem like something that would make a lot of sense.

with the score-inflation of the last decade or so you need to readjust to a 6 out of 10
Yeah, there's that too. I dunno if it's still the case but at one point supposedly the revenue streams for most of the game review sites (e.g. GameSpot) were so dependent on game company advertisements that they were basically ordered to give all major studio releases OSSUM reviews for fear of jeopardizing that.
Like 5 or so years ago there was some big thing at GameSpot where some editors quit or got fired and supposedly it had something to do with that.
I remember that. Guys name starter with a G. Gaidar, Geiter something like that. He reviewed Kane and Lynch and gave it a bad review. Lost his job. That shit's been going on for a long time. Probably since game reviews were in magazines. You are better off checking blogs, forum posts and videos on Youtube.
Yeah, that sounds right.
So a major studio release getting an 8 out of 10 is a pretty mediocre review, in fact. If it was P'dox it would be a great review. :)
I dunno. Everything I've read about it seems to lean toward "Story is stupid, but the game is generally fun."
I wonder if my computer would be able to run this thing with those E3 graphics. That preview video really did look nice. Why wouldn't they have that as a built in option for computer users from the beginning? Seems dumb of them.
Not shelling out for this. In December, it's on sale on Steam.
I might get it at 15 bucks to shoot more virtual ethnic minorities. Supposedly you can go after te gays too.
You'll be getting the Gaydar DLC and the shotgun, then?
It's fabulous.

Conspiracy theory: they downgraded the PC version to make the console versions look better and sell more.
Less insane theory: they couldn't get the high end version to run smoothly and bug free on PC, so they released it in a stable, downgraded version (bad optimization added by accident).

Yeah, I read the conspiracy theories on the Pdox website. Didn't make a lick of sense. If they wanted people to buy the console versions they would have just not released it on PC. I wondering if the "high end version" was just a build for E3, and they never intended to release that.
So its the PC version of LA Noire all over again?
Man, that was bad.
I see rumours Rockstar actually may release "Red Dead Redemption" for Windows.
I'd buy that, play, swear and let it rot in my Steam library along with the GTAs.
