So yeah. I need to replace my black dress shoes. What do you prefer? I don't like boxtoes. Shiny or no?
Also, my brown everyday work shoes are a soft brown Allen Edmonds. Does that say "old guy" or is it acceptable? I do get compliments on them, but mostly only from women.
No, I'm not going metro.
You can get nice Bostonians at a very affordable price, they hold a shine very well. Only wear with a suit, though.

You should always have at least a soft black Oxford and at least one loafer for Casual Fridays as an alternative to brown.

Are Fridays so casual you only wear one shoe?

Not a dress shoe if it's not shiny. Beyond that, just make sure that you buy a quality shoe and get the right fit.

If they meet your workplace's dress code, and you like them, that's all that matters.
I've always found it difficult to match brown shoes to a suit.
