My sister just did a 5k race complete with crazy obstacle course and chasing zombies.

Anyone here ever done this?
Sigh. Something is seriously fucked up with the Ortiz genepool.
Ah....No

Its bizzare. I read about this being predicted ages ago and then it came...it feels so manufactured.

Them some saggy tits on the one second from the left.
Wouldn't think crossbows would do much against zombies.

I don't see it, though I admit that I live here and so my imagination isn't as unfettered as yours.

Fucking hell
Lots of stuff like this keeps being reported. Never once did I say people were going mad in the streets on a daily basis saying "we love zombies!!". Nonetheless this definitely seems a big modern geek trend.

Yes.
I've been following this race for a while and signed up to the Facebook group for when it comes to the UK. For now I have to content myself with the Warrior Dash.
I am wary of zombie events. Last time I went to a zombie walk I got bitten by a zombie lesbian. I had a bite-shaped bruise on my arm for weeks.
Some guys are organizing similarly zombie themed runs over here as well. I signed up for info as, miraculously my hometown sneaked by in the top 3 cities shortlist and a run will be organized.

"Lots" of this stuff doesn't keep getting reported. There was a bit of a "zombie craze" a few years back, what with some TV shows, a few books, a movie or three - but that was in Britain as well as the US (
Shaun of the Dead was a British movie, in case you hadn't noticed). There's always been a few people trying to push that market, and there still is, because there is a small but steady market for that kind of stuff (see Brazen, who is hardly American, for evidence that this isn't a US thing even now). But there's no "zombie mania" here of which I am aware, and not even when we had a "zombie craze" at least the US did have not people "going mad in the streets on a daily basis saying "we love zombies!!"" like you apparently experienced in Blighty (from your definition above). There's going to be a US-British film released in the next year or so, but that's been in the works for a decade, and even that's been repeatedly delayed because the backers don't think the genre is still viable.
If a zombie horde attacks grumberville, hes going to yell at the young'uns to stay off his lawn.

Never mind replying I'm not even sure what the argument you're wanting is.

Precisely. Bumper stickers aside, there is no "zombie craze" in the US.
QuoteNever mind replying I'm not even sure what the argument you're wanting is.
I replied anyway, to let you know that, now that you have reversed your position and conceded your point was "all about nothing," you should feel good about yourself. Of course, i would urge you to resist the compulsion to make totally bogus claims about society in the US, but I know it is a compulsion and therefor nothing you can control. :console:

I got what I wanted from that (Tyr to back down and then to ad hom), and presumably he got what he wanted (whatever that was).
Sure, making Tyr adopt even more stupid positions after he says stupid shit isn't hard, but it can still be fun. :bowler:
Plus, Marti hasn't make those kinds of silly sweeping generalizations about the US based on single data points lately, so I have to engage with Tyr to find out what the US is really crazed about, unbeknownst to us Americans.
Yes...I backed down from my stupid position on the topic of I don't know what (my position being : nothing), and adopted the even stupider position of "I still have no view on whatever it is Grumbler has a view on but it's amusing to see him get so worked up about it". Stupid, I know that, but amusing nonetheless.
I shan't be biting the sweeping generalisations troll ta very much. :p
Anyway. I'm busy tomorrow so probally won't be here to keep goading you into arguing against a wall.
Arguing about arguing an entertaining languish pastime. :)
Unbeknownst to grumbler. There is a zombie craze in the US.
Wife and I went out to the trndy party of town a couple of weekends ago. Just enjoyed being kidless for a bit, did some shopping followed by supper.
Anyways, as we're walking, we see a big group of zombies walking down the street. 50 or more. Just going for a stroll. Towards the back there were several people wearing other costumes, but it was 80% zombies.
What amused me however is how well these zombies obeyed the traffic lights. :D
I hope I don't find a zombie walk when I am driving my truck. I have the Zombie Outbreak Response Team sticker and I will have to do my duty as a ZORT member.
In other news, I wish there was a Run For Your Life 5k closer to me, gonna have to wait 'till the next one in ATL next year.

That is entirely possible. As I have said, I don't know that there is
not a zombie craze in the US; I only know that, if there is such a craze, no one knows about it.
