- Some people expressed interests in the NHL thread, but last year, when I asked, no one volunteered.
So, here is how it goes:
1st round: 1pt for selecting the winning team, 2 pts if you guess the correct number of games.
2nd round: 1pt for selecting the winning team, 3 pts if you guess the correct number of games.
3rd round: 1pt for selecting the winning team, 4 pts if you guess the correct number of games.
4th round: 1pt for selecting the winning team, 5 pts if you guess the correct number of games.
Wrong team = 0pts for all rounds
I'll maintain the score, I have my spreadsheet all done. I'll share it with Skydrive so everyone can follow the score after each round.
All valid entry must be submitted before the first game of this series.
Choices for round #1:
- Los Angeles Kings vs Vancouver Canucks
- San Jose Sharks vs St-Louis Blues
- Chicago Black Hawks vs Pheonix Coyotes
- Detroit Red Wings vs Nashville Predators
- Ottawa Senators vs New York Rangers
- Washington Capitals vs Boston Bruins
- New Jersey Devils vs Florida Panthers
- Philadelphia Flyers vs Pittsburgh Penguins
If you want to participate, PM me with your choices.
To clarify the matter, since there seems to be some confusion, you get to choose one round at a time. Make your picks for round #1 before tomorrow night, and when round #2 comes along, I'll ask for your new picks. You don't have to figure out the probability of seeing the Caps to the Stanley Cups finals. When it comes to that, you'll have the new choices.
My only prognostication is the Caps will choke again. Gloriously.

Hard to choke from seed 7 but I am sure they will find a way. Like blow a 3-1 series lead or something :weep:

that's not the right question. the right question is in which round will they choke. Out in the first? or will they give valmy false hope?
Too difficult to do it this way since the teams get realigned each round. Which is why most pools pick players so you can load up on the teams you think will go the deepest into the playoffs and therefore have most opportunity to score points.
And I can be bothered to think about all the possible realignment possibilities through each round.

At least the Caps get to choke in the playoffs. Some other, more northernly, teams took care of that in the regular season.

Josephus, I hope you are wrong. The playoffs go on too long as it is.
It only takes one series to go 7 games to delay the whole second round, and I'm not the only one who picked a seven game series--if that's what you're saying?

Dont dodge responsibility. If this goes into late summer its your fault.

1st, I asked for PM so nobody else would be influenced by the choice of others, but I don't really care how you transmit them :)
2nd, even if all games were to end in 4, I don't think they would dealy the 2nd. They don't do it for the other rounds, at least.

I mostly watch soccer these days, so really a June cup final won't really bother me. :D

I did, but in the NHL thread. The first upset I called for was the complete destruction of the homos from Vancouver.

I think me calling for San Jose over St. Louis is about the only upset going (everyone seems to acknowledge Philly-Pitt could go either way).
Can we keep this thread as a sticky for the duration of the playoffs, please?
should be working :)
Not working. Update later.
Let's see how I'm doing so far
