Hello all,
I am trying to bring in some fresh blood to the site via FB and recruiting some of my new Mormon friends.
Please be nice to them in the way only you of Languish know how. *cough cough*
Thanks,
J.
This is bound to turn out well.
Quiet you. Someone had to bring new people here.
Will they merge with lettow so that their progeny can liberate the south from space?
Tell them to make sure they don't have russian or chinese IPs.

No one here is more welcoming of newbs than I am. Ask anyone. I'm merely predicting that any Mormons will catch a ton of grief.
BTW Jaronimo, you ever going to fill us in on the new doings in your life?
BYU football sucks*.

Jaron is either trolling us or a sadist.
Sure.
I got frustrated with my lack of opportunity in California, so I moved away in April of this year.
I moved to Provo, Utah. I've made a ton of friends and worked my way up to middle management in a Provo based software company. I've fended off several attempts to convert me to the LDS church, but all in all its been a good experience. I've gotten to experience a lot of things I've wanted to try for a long time: Living on my own, snow, trying my luck in a new city. I've met some interesting people out here, and its nice to stand out in some way being from out of state and so different than so many people here. I find they're a breath of fresh air to me and I to them.
I am still not making as much money as I'd like to be but what I earn goes a lot farther in Utah than it did in California.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with myself right now.

I for one welcome this initiative. I pray that the new guys, if any decide to check this place out, will co-exist peacefully with the rest of us

The burden is burdensome.
Everyone here assumes I'm a native american. Its kinda fun to be in a racist state when all the stuff thrown your way doesn't really apply. :P
Don't worry, they're try to send your Mexican ass back to Africa soon enough.
Mormon girls won't touch anyone who hasn't gone on a mission, so that might just work to my benefit. :P

Dude, so hit the "I did my missionary work in Bakersfield" angle. I mean, that's like going to help lepers in Calcutta.

You kinda are. :hmm:
True, but not in the sense they think. I don't have any tribal affiliation or knowledge of native customs/foods.
Someone brought me chia seeds today and once when someone made me mad and I sorta sulked off they referred to the aisle I stomped down as the "Trail of Tears" for an entire week. <_<

There's a lot to be said for heading off on one's own to a new state/province/territory. :)
We need to start a pool to guess how long it will take before Jaron has to move to another state.
I say 8 months.
My lease is up at the end of July - at that point I'll have to consider what I want to do.

Read up on Aztec customs and then really play it up in conversation.

I could look into that next year. I am in a similar boat as Tim - I have a BA in History and a CA teaching credential but couldn't find work.

His Facebook status went from "in a relationship" to "single". I have not verified if that situation also happened in real life so therefore, it's a facebook breakup.
Nerds.

Probably setting the stage for a sock puppet.
Got a new job, pretended to convert, moved to a new state, AND still couldn't get laid? :console: :P
In all seriousness, glad things are moving along for ya Jaron :)
Maybe the mormons will overwhelm the forum and this will become a mormon forum. It will confuse Rocky Horror and Hamilcar if they stop by again someday.

Is exodus the appropriate word to describe what Jaron is hoping to encourage? :nerd:

I've temporarily reactivated registrations, which is kind of annoying.

Welcome!
I assure you, if you keep posting, your first few weeks here will be among your most unpleasant Internet experiences :D
But most people here are real softies in serious need of attention and love, they just hide it under a thick layer of asshatery.

Yep, just a group of people who can't hack it.

Hi! I can be your friend. :)
Stop lying.
Is this a good idea, go through all of the new members back to say 6-9 months ago and the one who aren't obvious spambots ie they've never been active since signing on, why not send them a polite and friendly PM, something like this a good idea ?

I tried it and but there's only handful of recent, non-posting registrations from the last couple of years that meet the criteria. :(
I suggest a Super Bowl commercial.
