I bet you've never read a single Lovecraft story. :P

They are surprisingly bad. I thought that writing with obscure and archaic words to prove your vast vocabulary was something that professional writers get out of their systems early on.  Really, who uses the words "squamous", or "effulgence"?  I liked the RPG much better.

The guy was writing a century ago, the words may not have been considered archaic then.

 Naw, he knew he was being green at the time.

He was comfortable being archaic and a throwback in his own era, which makes it stand out even more today.

His stories are good stuff though. 5 nautical looking negroes out of five
