I like San Diego and New England to cover, and Dallas taking the points.  Dallas looked pretty decent against the Patriots I thought.

Gotta play those games sometime.  And Pats-Steelers & Cowboys-Eagles make up for it IMO.  Hell, even the Monday night game involving the Chiefs should be competitive.

Since I'm not making the trip to Seattle this weekend, I feel like I can prognosticate on the Bengals-Seahawks game:  take the points.  Bengals never win on the west coast.  I'd be happy to be wrong, though.

Classy move by Heap there.

Sports Science did a thing with Arian Foster that goes along nicely with those combine numbers I came across earlier:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGwhefyme4I

I really like the Foster/Tate combination the Texans have going on right now.  Hey they can also bring in Derrick Ward, who doesn't seem to suck either.  Too bad about Slaton.  If he had kept his rookie form (basically, if he hadn't taken that funky neck injury IMO), it would just be ridiculous.  Probably not enough carries to go around, but it'd be cool for a season, at least.

Downside is they're going to have to start paying these guys what they're actually worth.  I think Foster is on the last year of that UDFA contract he signed.  Less than $500,000 a season, IIRC.

E:  Oh.  Andre Johnson won't be playing against the Jags.  So that sucks.

The local affiliates have outdone themselves this week.

FOX @ 10 AM Carolina @ Minnesota
CBS @ 10AM NY Giants @ Miami

CBS @ 1PM Cincinnati @ Seattle

:yuk:  I guess there aren't many interesting early games today but what a load of crap.

The carolina / minnesota game is probably the best early game, actually.  Only one with a spread less than a td IIRC.

Yeah it might be a competitive game but I can't imagine it will be a very good game.  It will be my first chance to see Newton play in the NFL so that is likely what I will have on most of the time.

Better games than I have.

St. Louis vs New Orleans  :yucky:
Indianapolis vs Tennessee      :yuk:

1500 game is Pitts and Pats, though.

And the night game tonight on NBC will be good, iggles and cowgirls.

MNF blows also.

Washington vs Buffalo

Hell yes!

You have Manning, one of the greatest QBs ever. You draft Luck and have him sit 2-3 seasons behind Manning. You now have one of the best potential talents who got to observe one of the best ever. You cannot beat that. Yes, Manning will bitch and moan, and he won't want to admit that the end is in sight but he will ultimately be a "team" player and do what is best for the team.

And with the rookie salary structure they have these days, why wouldn't you?  It's not like you have to pay him seventy million dollars like they did Jamarcus or Stafford.

No it is the first contract, it is limited on money and number of years.  Might as well live in the Soviet Union, right?

EDIT:  http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6768521/nfl-lockout-owners-players-agree-rookie-wage-system-sources-say

QuoteAccording to sources, the terms agreed to on the rookie wage system are, in part, as follows:

• Five-year contracts, with a team option for the fifth year.

• If the team option is exercised, in the fifth year the top 10 picks would receive a salary equal to the average of the top 10 player salaries at their respective positions. That money would be guaranteed if the option is exercised after the third year of the contract.

• If the team option is exercised, in the fifth year picks 11-32 would receive a salary equal to the average of the Nos. 3-25 salaries at their respective positions. That money would be guaranteed if the option is exercised after the third year of the contract.

This was before the deal was finalized so it may have changes slightly, but not much.

Hey they got their "fullback" back this week at least.  He was a bit limited, and Vickers was smashing some heads, but it's good to see him back out there.

The LBs...well....I hope we're going to get to see pre-season superhero Brahman (#50) actually playing LB instead of just special teams.  There's also some dude named Tim Dobbins, who is actually an ILB (Brahman is an OLB, but the guy was pretty fun to watch in the preseason, and isn't screwing around on ST, so).  At least Ryans and Cushing are still playing, although Ryans seems to be in a full body cast or something.

Cushing is a fucking monster.  The guy is everywhere on the field and is really blasting people when he gets the chance.  I wonder if he's...ahem...overtraining....again.   :P

Nice call on that challenge by the refs.  Apparently if the ball ever leaves your hands, it's a fumble.  This includes having control when your ass, back, and elbow make contact with the ground.  Awfulness already.  Professional sports are disgusting me more and more with the terrible officiating/umpiring/reffing involved every week. :yuk:

Nice call on that challenge by the refs.  Apparently if the ball ever leaves your hands, it's a fumble.  This includes having control when your ass, back, and elbow make contact with the ground.  Awfulness already.  Professional sports are disgusting me more and more with the terrible officiating/umpiring/reffing involved every week. :yuk:
But the knee wasn't down!

I hate pass interference calls, sometimes the slightest touch seems to be enough for it to be called, sometimes pulling a jersey is fine.

4-way tie at the top of the LFFL. Don't remember ever seeing that before in our league.

And the first 8 all within one game. Exciting year.

Awful year for me.  I have a decent team, yet seem to run into everyone having their best week of the season.  Ugh. :(

I have a semi-decent team & have had the luck of my opponents underachieving when they play me.  Unfortunately, my team seems to underachieve just about every week.  I started out 3-1, then hit a 3 game slide & had to pull off a nail-biter last week to even up at 4-4.

Philip Rivers is killing my team.

The lack of any good RBs out there is killing my team.

Should have traded with me.
