No thread at kickoff?
I can't be bothered to find a list of games that is formatted properly for pasting.
I get to see the Chargers/Jets and Seahawks/Browns this morning.

Is there a single game this week that is interesting and competitive? I don't think so.
And Houston's Manning is coming out on a cart. The injury fun continues.
I like the London game (which I've been watching) but I do wish they would play up the local flavor more. Put a Pom in the booth, interview some locals, that sort of thing. Get some crowd shots of chavs reacting to the stripperleaders. As things stand it's just a normal game with quieter than usual fans.

Yeah, no doubt. What's the point of playing games in Britain if you're not going to British it up?

Yeah. I was listing games the other night to my wife, trying to decide which we'll watch, and she figured that game was a 'cripplefight', and unworthy of our attention.
Man, the Texans are showing that their rough patch was an anomaly. That's how you play through injuries.
And... now Tebow finally has a good drive and scores a TD. Ugh. :glare:

Well. Not much to say about the Texans game, other than it's nice to see them beat the Titans down like that. They did...well..everything pretty well today.

Yeah, that first pick was retarded. The second one was basically a punt, and if the receiver isn't going to make a play for the ball or to protect the pass, then what can you do?
But yeah, I've come to grips with the fact that Boller's best chance to stay in the NFL is to stay off the field.

The Raiders should be ashamed of themselves. No QB sneak.
At one point or another the following Bucs got hurt in that game: Starting HB, FB, DT, FS, MLB, C with possibly 1 or 2 back ups hurt but game center is a bit unclear.
Blount was already hurt and his back up who plays all over the place (special teams/2nd fb and 3rd down back) blew out his achilles tendon.

Odds are. Fuck. I hate almost everything the Raiders and Browns have done in the past year or so. So inherited/picked terrible teams to root for. <_<
Fuck Carson Palmer. Goddamn whiny quitter.
That was pathetic. St. Louis just had AJ Fuckin Feeley throw three passes from the two yardline, then they tried to run it on 4th down and Jackson, trying to make something out of nothing with no downs left, tried to bounce it outside and got tackled for a loss. This was after Jackson ran for ~11 yards and the first down at the two in the first place.

It's kind of fitting that Tebow's in Denver, 'cause he's a lot like Elway was--a QB who's really not all that good, but people think is great because he can lead a 4th-quarter comeback. Having said that, of course Elway was much better than Tebow, at least in part because he could actually complete long downfield passes.
Still, I think that the Broncos should have just gone with Tebow as the starter at the beginning of the season. Yes, he's not good enough to start right now, but Denver wasn't going to win this year no matter who started at quarterback, and they need to find out if Tebow ever will be good enough to start. With as much work to do as he has, the only way he's going to improve enough to be good enough is to get the reps that come with being the starter. Watching from the sidelines and holding the clipboard isn't going to get him there. (Standing on the sidelines and learning from a veteran can work when the main things you need to learn are the playbook, the reads, and the like--the mental side of the game. Tebow's biggest shortfallings right now are in mechanics and timing, which are only going to get fixed--if they are fixable--by physical reps.)
Amazing stat

Quote2. The Elias Sports Bureau put Sunday's loss by the Dolphins into perspective: Since time began with the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, no team has been ahead as many as 15 points with less than three minutes left and lost. At least until the Dolphins did it Sunday. That explains why I call it the most embarrassing loss in franchise history.

What a crazy game. The Chiefs score half their TDs from INT returns and suddenly make themselves contenders in the AFC West.
Some dude on the Texans board I eyeball went and found some stuff from Arian Foster's pro day:
http://blogs.knoxnews.com/edwards/2009/03/arain_foster_has_rough_pro_day.html
QuoteFoster posted times of 4.73 and 4.69 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Foster's best time in the 40 is about 0.14 seconds slower than the benchmark scouts look for in running backs.
His other numbers weren't great, either.
In the short shuttle, which measures flexibility, burst and balance, Foster ran a 4.53. That's about 0.3 seconds slower than the ideal. Foster's 32-inch vertical jump was about 4 inches short of the ideal, too. A 9-7 broad jump wasn't off the charts, either.
The one good test for Foster was the three-cone drill, which tries to measure agility and change of direction. His time of 7.09 seconds was well ahead of the curve.
Heh. Slow.
Also, Manning had surgery today.

So after week 7, the top 5 NFL defenses (YPG):
Total Defense (YPG)
1. Baltimore Ravens 272.7
2. Cincinnati Bengals 278.5
3. Pittsburgh Steelers 279.0
4. Cleveland Browns 291.0
5. San Diego Chargers 297.3
And the Top 5 teams in terms of points allowed per game (this includes points allowed by special teams and offense):
1. Baltimore Ravens 13.8
2. San Francisco 49ers 16.2
3. Pittsburgh Steelers 17.4
4. Cincinnati Bengals 18.5
5. Houston Texans 18.7
Cleveland is #9
The Texans defense is actually interesting to watch this year. For the "defense" part, not for the "backup QB they're playing against looks like a goddamn hero" part. They'll get blown up occasionally, but they've still shown VAST improvement.

Tim Tebow, Convertor of the Passes (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7147740/tim-tebow-converter-passes)
QuoteI'm sure there are people who manage to escape the demographic rooting pattern this creates. But in broad strokes, it's fair to say that how you feel about Tebow depends on how you feel about youth groups and Elisabeth Hasselbeck and, I don't know, WWJD bracelets and raft retreats with a lot of bonfires and swaying. Other religious players are religious individuals; Tebow is a whole culture. It helps that, as an NFL player, he's both nontraditional and kind of bad, which makes it easy to see his success as guided by a higher power — if a dude with that background and that throwing motion completes a touchdown pass, it almost has to be a miracle.
The anti-Tebowites are starting to annoy me even more than Tebow's followers. That's quite an accomplishment.

The fact this dude is so polarizing is pretty bizarre.
That's what a good part of the above article is about.

Well he is hardly the only Jesus freak in the league. Hell half the players give God credit everytime they score.

Honestly, I have little problem with him personally. It's the cult of personality that has developed around him and the non stop chatter since before he was even drafted that annoy me to no end.

And all teams have team chaplains, FWIW.
Anyway, I never got the impression that a majority of Tebow's rabid fans in Denver were particularly religious. May be different in the rest of the country though, dunno.

Well I am not in Denver but that article seems to suggest religion is reason he is polarizing. Which would be weird if true.
The way the guy played last game was pretty polarizing. 57 minutes in which the option to substitute in Ryan Leaf would have seemed attractive, followed by 3 minutes of extraordinary execution. Is he a miracle man or a guy who puts his team in a position where they need a miracle? Not hard to see why discussion might acquire a theological tinge.

Or lucky enough to have his first full game against the awful joke masquerading as an NFL team known as the Dolphins.
I know Owens is old and still slightly hurt, and it is late in the season now, but why isn't any team interested in him what so ever? I know he has a terrible attitude but he has a bit of football left in him. Hell the Ravens could even use him, and those strong personalities could probably keep him in line.
Unless Owens can block blitzers, he's not the answer in Baltimore. Ben Grubbs is the answer in Baltimore.

I fixed that for you!
Tebow does get a bad rap. I was listening to ESPN radio the other day and they were discussing his production in his 4 career starts. He has something like 11 TD's (passing/rushing) with only 3 Ints and a couple fumbles along with the 2pt conversion he made last game.
A QB that averages almost 3 TD's a game and about 1 turnover isn't a bad thing to have. Hate or Love him, he does deserve a longer chance to show what he can accomplish. He reminds me of Flutie. It isn't pretty but he wins than they replace him with the "pretty boy".

Very true, Kyle Bollar er I mean Joe Flacco had a good game. Too bad he is calling it in for the rest of the season.

Well, the next two Sundays (Patritards and Ratbirds) will determine where the season is headed for the Steelers.

Flacco really had no chance in the game against Jacksonville. He was running for his life on every play.

He had an 18.9 QBR, if you see some of the throws he was trying to make, they were WAYYYY off, like to the point you'd be sitting on your couch saying holy shit I could have made that throw. It was really really ugly. Has anyone mentioned it was the Dolphins? He had -3 combined yards until the last 5 minutes of the game.
