QuoteWargaming.net announces World of Battleships game project

Wargaming.net announces World of Battleships, a free-to-play naval action MMO based on epic sea battles of the 20th century that will complete the "World of" war trilogy.
Keeping with the best traditions of the series, World of Battleships will offer a straightforward interface, easy-to-use controls, and a common economic system that will allow players to distribute resources between the three games for the ultimate progress in each of them.
The large assortment of available warships will give various tactical opportunities, as all the machines have a unique combination of firepower, speed, armor, and endurance. Various naval maps with changing weather conditions will enrich the gameplay, and the realistic graphics will transport players into the epic battles that changed the course of human history.
Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi states: "Humans always needed to conquer the elements — earth, water and air. With World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Battleships we will offer players to conquer all."
Somewhere in alberta neighbors have reported a man being tortured. When the mounties showed up they found a man incapacitated by a continuing orgasm. In a near catatonic state the man was taken to hospital muttering only one word again and again "Dreadnaught".
Sadly the "epic sea battles of the 20th century" were decided by carriers. Some players may be disappointed when they bring their battleships.

Indisputable evidence confirms that Soviet ships were built out of superior steel, crewed by the best sailors the world has ever seen, and equipped with electronics that western fleets would only see several decades after the war. Also, it's an arcade game rather than a simulator so it doesn't need to be accurate.
Regardless of the inevitability of overpowered Soviet ships and aircraft, it's certainly going to be very interesting to see how they handle these platforms. Tanks are interesting because of the diversity of gameplay and tactics offered by the various platforms and terrain. With WoS and WoP you're basically playing a game of spotting-and-shooting. Sure, some amount of maneuvering will be possible with aircraft and perhaps clouds will serve as "cover" but I just don't see it.

The Yamato, The Super Yamato, The Z-Plan Ships and The Montana Classes were are designed to be larger... these four ship classes also had (and would have had) the advantage of having fully functional armour.

These are obvious and self-evident lies and slander of Rodina. Report to your local re-education center immediately!
How would the classes look compared to WoT?
Light Tank = Destroyer?
Medium Tank = Cruiser?
Heavy Tank = Battleship?
Tank Destroyer = Torpedo Boat?
Artillery = ?

Something like that, I would presume. Of course, Destroyers and PT boats would be more or less useless so we might see an entirely new structure.
I'm thinking Submarine for Tank Destroyer. Torpedo boats a little too light weight.

Which would also give Destroyers a role besides scouting. Reasonable assumption.
If they have any sense, they won't even have the USSR as a "nation" in the game.
If they go with 3, it should be German, US, Japanese. Or Brit, US, Japanese.
Hell, the Italians should come before the USSR.

:hmm:
When they mention the "World of" trilogy, what is the other game besides Tanks and Battleships?
Airplanes.

Ah.
So they're developing two MMOs at the same time, while continuing to develop WoT? :hmm:
QuoteBased purely on aircraft setting, World of Warplanes will allow players to build full-scale careers of virtual pilots offering machines of several key eras, staring from 1930's with biplanes and up to Korean War jet fighters that led the way to modern air forces.
:bleeding:
yeah. That's going to be a lot of fun given how well the matchmaker works.

How so?
Is the difference between inter-war warplanes and 50s era warplanes that much more extreme than the difference between inter war tanks and 1950s era tanks?
Biplane versus jet fighter might be an interesting match-up. Jet fighters probably stall out at the top speed of the biplanes.

Maybe not.
Biggest difference would probably be that while even a Tier 2-3 can actually be useful in a scouting role they will be too slow for a similar job in a dogfight.
i wanna see a wallet warrior biplane gun down fighter jets :)

I may be more observant than I'm sometimes painted. :P
And the answer to your question is: Stop being Totally and Undeniably Bear-wrestlingly Awesome!!!111. :D
I found it amusing to read a blog entry from the developers on the anniversary of the Kursk battle. It made it sound like a complete rout, with Germans suffering much more casualties than Soviets, rather than an important but very costly victory by the Soviets that it was. I guess Russian textbooks still haven't updated the wartime propaganda.

Well, with both of the new games they need to make sure that while they borrow the format from WoT, they don't try to hold to the same kind of roles. World of Warplanes needs to be its won game, not WoT with airplane skins in the air.

Sure, and with the limited amount of information we actually have, speculation is pointless right now.
I just hope the MM will be a lot more restrictive.
Frankly, I wish it would be in WoT aswell. Maybe a maximum tier difference of +-1 with separate rules for SPGs and scouts.
I think they make it broad to minimize the wait time for everybody. The more you restrict the tiers the more likely you'll be stuck waiting for people of your tier to show up, particularly during off hours.
Yeah, my son just created an account, and there was a wait of nearly a minute for his "Tier 0" matches.
Was nice that for those first ten games he was in matches with all Tier 1s though.
He is terrible.

Which is why they ought to diversify into "Quick battle" and "Normal battle" where naturally the former would be what is, and the latter would be stronger tier restriction. I'd happily wait a minute or two for a tier-restricted battle to start if it meant more even playing fields and less lol-stomping.
As is, if you end up a lone tier-8 vs a bunch of Tier-4+ the simple act of picking the right path where the T8 runs into a large force of easily dispatched lower tiers can decide a battle unless the other Tier-8 or SPGs can react quickly enough.

 Neil's already 0-13.
It's already out, it's called Navy Field. I threw up a topic about this a couple of years ago you lazy faggots.

TBH, navyfield looks like it sucks so bad this game can't possibly be any worse.
The English in their flash tutorial is of the level that it sounds like some sort of scam, ffs.

The game was so laggy and unstable back then that I didn't bother actually playing.

I'm definitely going to try it out.
I am all for trying out free things.

I like to imagine Neil's living room has a framed painting of Taffy 3 under fire, and on the opposite wall one of
Glorious sinking.
