I dont know. The people I knew who smoked a lot of pot also did a lot of other drugs so I am not entirely sure which of them, or all of them, were responsible for screwing them up.
Well to be fair, I wouldn't say I smoked "a lot" of pot. Certainly never did it on a daily basis. More like a weekly to bi-weekly basis at my peak usage.

Indeed, although perhaps not by all that much. Marijuana enforcement isn't huge in Canada, and what they spend on enforcing grow ops will still have to be spent chasing illegal, tax-evading grow ops.

I haven't actually seen it, but from what I've heard, it is about a woman who leaves her okay-ish husband because she's just not getting enough out of life, and learns how she can have it all - good food, religious enlightenment, and hott sex.
Pure selfish wish-fulfilment for the middle-aged woman crowd (of the sort that would have them up in arms with a vengence if the sex of the protagonist was reversed - and it was about some guy who leaves his humdrum wife for a more fulfilling life of eating BBQ ribs, learning to get right with God by studying to be a Baptist minister, and banging hott chicks -- which basically sounds like any TV evangelist's bio. ;) ).

That's because you are drinking too much of the kool-aid. Every reduction in tobacco use not only costs society the revenue from the taxes, but fails to kill off fewer old people with quick-acting cancer, and instead lets them die slowly and expensively of other diseases and disorders. On a cost-effectiveness basis, tobacco use abatement is a loser, as is marijuana use reduction.

I really dont think the US is going to stop buying our natural resources because we tax the pot that people are smoking anyway.
The US already knows we have pot growers, sellers and users here. They have ways of dealing with that. Ever hear of Marc Emery?
Surely a city the size of Vancouver must do more than just act as an entrepot for natural resources heading south?
Are you upset that Edmonton cant even do that?
Edmonton's main function these days is as a religious centre.
WTF?

I won't support pot legalization until the pot legalization movement distances itself from rastafarians. :glare:
What is the problem with Rastafarians?

Hmmm. Siding with Jamaicans or siding with Mart.
Decision, decisions.

Conqueror worm? I'm not sure that's appropriate.

The fact they really don't care much for white people doesn't bother you, just the anti-gay thing.
I just thought they were silly people who thought the Emperor of Ethiopia was the Messiah. A Christian variety of Druze or something.

It has a lot of Black Supremacist stuff going on. And seems like it came from the Black Nationalist movement. I think it's more like the Nation of Islam or Christian Identity.
 That's a strange reason to take an anti-cannabis position, Marti.
Why is hating Rastas so much stranger than hating hippies?

Hating Rastas isn't so strange, but to follow your analogy it'd be like hating trees because hippies like to hug them. :)

More that several Languishites have cited hatred of hippies as their rationale for opposing pot.
Plus potheads clog the snack aisle at the supermarket.
Just another sign Mart is out of touch with mainstream homosexuality. Rather hard to be firmly opposed to pot in the places that I've been.
