I come home from teaching today, and my door is triple locked. Can't get in. I bang on the door, and my wife answers, brandishing a knife. Apparently, she had been surprised in our backyard today by a young dazzling urbanite, after I had left to go teach. She bitched him out and he left, saying something about how he was just on the path (whatever the fuck that means).
I call the HPD for a drive through patrol.
An hour later, my wife and I hear noise next door. Two minutes later, HPD pulls up and arrests a young dazzling urbanite, who had broken into the neighbor's house when both we, and the neighbors the next house over were all home (four cars parked within 100 feet of this house, each house fully lit up). The kicker: unmarked police cruiser across the street, parked, while the house is getting broken into.
Fucking morons.
The English language got crimed on. :(

Actually, I live in what is probably one of the whiter neighborhoods in downtown Hattiesburg. My street is famously quiet, though- all the drunk drivers drive down it from the downtown bars at night. And yesterday, they all drove past a dozen cops, very slowly.
