When my old computer passed away I salvaged the hard drive and had it installed in my new computer. The new computer didn't come with Adobe but it's there on the old hard drive.
So the question is can I just copy the Adobe folder to the new hard drive, or do I need to jump through some Windows registry hoops? Would it be simpler to just download a new free copy?
Thanks.
download a new free copy.
You can't simply copy the folder for 99% of the software out there.
Thanks veep.

I have used the CM Stacker for several years now, and love it. Great design, great manufacturing quality.

Nice case. I'll be putting an additional 1T HD into my new Thermaltake Armor MX this week, so I'm curious how it goes - supposedly it's very easy:
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tcmagazine.com%2Fimages%2Fnews%2FHardware%2FThermaltake_Armor%2B_MX_04.jpg&hash=f5da86f4b0922eb2fc9273cffd0f9d3f5aa99587)
Yi, you can't do that with modern applications, the reason being that Microsoft (praised be Bill Gates and his companions!) from the very start of Windows complicated things making apps install portions of themselves in windows\sys, the registry, etc, etc. Each version since then apparently _must_ add another layer of complication and worse still, randomly changes the names of folders that in fact do the very same thing...
And I will add another comment: if you only want to read pdfs, don't use the Adobe reader, it's the worst piece of bloatware ever. Personally I use FoxIt, but there are many other pdf readers much smaller and faster than Adobe's.

Unless you are using Mac OS, in which case you can.

no screws, only the brackets. It's wonderful :)

Then I can also finally migrate my old "My Files" folder from my old PC. I like having one small HD or partition for the OS, one for software, and a third one for files (downloads, movies, pictures etc.), plus an external drive for backup.

Sounds like my Mac Pro. In order to add an extra harddrive you literally just slide the drive in - you don't even connect any cables.

Spec-wise, the Mac Pro is one of the heaviest hitters on the market. I'd have one, except it's also got one of the heaviest-hitting price tags.

I'm not sure I'd buy another Mac Pro in 3-4 years (or whatever) as it really is expensive and overkill, but spec-wise and design wise it is far and away the nicest computer I have ever owned. Its the only computer I've ever owned where the internals of the case are even beautiful and well thought out.

still got the cables to connect, but 30 seconds of work is hardly a sweat. And we don't pay twice what the computer is worth :P

Indeed. I've been drooling over them since I found out that the current gen comes standard with eight physical processing cores.

You could always uninstall the Adobe Reader & install Foxit. I've used Foxit for a couple years now & it runs much better for me than the Adobe product.

After schlepping the download for a couple hours I'm not inclined to repeat the procedure. I'll stand pat.

 I'd scrap the Adobe Reader in a heartbeat, just to get rid of the horrible memory mismanagement. No system with at least 512 MB of RAM should lag for more than a few seconds on a PDF file.

I'm probably going to use it a dozen times a year. Given that fact a couple seconds lag doesn't seem so bad compared to another mongo download.

Guess that's fair enough. Reason number 637 to leave NJ: all docs from the state are provided in PDF format. :bleeding:

Dammit, don't take away my right to hate the state I live in. ;)
Anyway, it's pretty ridiculous when docs from places like HUD are provided as 20MB PDFs... I'd want to spend
my Section 8 money on $50-100/month broadband.
Captain, move to NYC. Move back in one year with full appreciation of this wonderful, beautiful state.

New York has its pluses, from my point of view. As far as I'm concerned, this state's going to be rock bottom until we break ourselves away from Corzine's spending insanely on pet projects, while cutting budgets for essential services. I had a
two-and-a-half-hour hold with the DMV the other day, because they only left one person in the department I needed to talk to.
