Though he is not seen much in recent months, i'd like to know Rex Francorum's opinion of Boccherini? ...And of course everyone else please chime in... are you a fan?
Huge fan, I've seen all his movies.
I know how to play his famous minuet on a piano. :homestar:
He wasn't as good as his brother Mario. ;)
Those are the round snail-like pastas with cheese filling? Yeah, they're OK with tomato sauce.
"Boccherini" sounds suspiciously similar to "blow jobs" in italian. :secret:
L.
Gtfo if you do not know Boccherini....
To your question, PRC, I would answer that Boccherini is worthy of exploration.
I suggest you to give a look especially at his symphonies, cello concerti and string quintets (including guitar quintets).
I will provide some samples, for your consideration.
1st movement of cello concerto no 9. http://www.box.net/shared/ex3cop7cd0
3rd movement of the guitar quintet no 1: http://www.box.net/shared/bxrupahdg2
1st movement of the symphony no 26: http://www.box.net/shared/d8mq6sg1m8
Thanks Rex, the few bits i've heard from Boccerini have been excellent and I look forward to your samples.
So? ;)
Great stuff, I love his Cello concertos, that instrument produces the most soulful notes.
