Title: Windows 7 Licencing
Post by: Darth Wagtaros on January 12, 2010, 12:09:55 PM
I mistakenly bought a Win 7 -32 bit OS instead of a 64 bit OS license.  Anybody know if the license key will work with the 64 bit version?

MS licensing phone support is teh suck.

IIRC, a Win7 license is a Win7 license.  When I bought mine, I got 2 discs (one 32-bit install disc & one 64-bit disc) and just one license key.

Retail version should be both 32 and 64, but OEMs and updates are specific IIRC.

Fucking MS.  Spent the last two days trying to get my keys for Win2008.  I can't register an account for their Volume LIcensing services because .edu domain is 'restricted' or some shit.  WTF.   Three different departments bounced me back and forth.

Fucking bastards.

Just be glad you aren't waiting on any volume keys or open licensing keys right now...
