A Chilean Olympic weightlifter who was training at a gym in Brazil got the shock of her life when she unexpectedly gave birth to a baby boy, the Web site Globo.com reported.

Elizabeth Poblete had been working to "beef up" her body over the past few months and had no idea she was pregnant.

It wasn't until she called a doctor after becoming ill during a training session last week in San Paulo that she realized what was going on.

Shortly after, the 22-year-old gave birth to a premature baby boy. Poblete and her son, Eric Jose, were then taken to the hospital.

"It was a surprise for me," Horacio Reis, the head weight trainer, said. "A week ago I acted as a judge in a competition in Chile and this girl was competing. I could see she was a big girl, round and strong. That's all I noticed."

Doctors calculate Poblete must have been six months pregnant. Many times, the training and diet regimen of female weightlifters can cause them to have irregular menstrual cycles.

I like the photo being used here, brings to mind images of the baby dropping out right at that moment.

Aren't you supposed to feel a 6-month fetus? Or was she thinking this was a side-effect of the steroids she was taking?

You need to distinguish between body builders (whose goal is muscle mass uber alles) and weightlifters (whose goal is lifting the most amount of weight uber alles, and who are usually in a weight class).

Aside from the super-heavies, the weightlifters generally look healthier and better, and need less drugs.

Considering that Mary is responsible for one of the greatest lies in the history of humanity, I'd call this a first coming....does that make me Jewish?

True enough, they tend not to look so bad. Most of those muscles body builders have are a waste, purely for aesthetics.

Yep.
Not me of course but I recall a documentary on TV about some body builder woman. She made a lot of her money from semi-prostitution. Meeting skinny guys and lifting them up or just flexing for them or  lying on them or....weird stuff. I guess its sort of tied into a amazon fetish.
