Title: How old is your oldest child?
Post by: merithyn on November 16, 2009, 07:05:48 AM
Just out of curiosity, how old are your kids? The thread on parenting made me wonder, since Marty commented that he didn't think any Languishites had raised any children to adulthood.

Is this true?

FWIW, my eldest two are 15. They'll be 16 on January 2, 2010.

EDIT: Bah... it should be 16-18, not 15. If a kind manager type person could please adjust that for me? :)

Oh, and someone has a grown child. I figured there had to be at least one out there, given the ages of our population here.

If "non-biological kid you help raise but always considered yours no matter what the birth certificate said" counts, then yes. 18, Freshman at the Ohio State University.

But I'm not voting in the poll.

Obviously, given my background, I absolutely count that. :)

There's a joke in there about your wife, but I'm too scared to make it.  ;)

Oh, and did I mention that Uncle Daddy (the kids' father) is planning more kids with his new wife? So while I've stopped at four, the children could have more siblings soon.

The poll only said the age of the OLDEST child.. nothing about the number of children :)

My oldest is 9

He's referring to my comment that nearly 70% of Languishtas do not have children.

I understand it's some sort of family nickname but "Uncle Daddy" sounds like something you would find in West Virginia and Kentucky along with "Sister Momma" and "Grandpa Daddy".

Picture the scene: our city-dwelling heroes are lost in the backwoods roads of Kentucky. They come across a creepy old gas station advertising food, with slack-jawed yokels lounging about the place. Cue ominous dulcimer music.

Doesn't really work ...

Jake is 9, Melanie is 6. Which really seems rather hard to believe, actually.
