Apparently, they're offering free demo CDs.
Anybody have any experience with Rosetta Stone language software? Any reviews? Any word-of-mouth?
Any difference between tackling the romance languages versus the monkey languages?
I've tried to use it. You speak into a microphone and it does analysis of your pronounciation, but I gave up because it was too nit-picky and it was impossible to get it right.

Damn maybe I could use it to work on that posh English accent I have always wanted.
Rosetta is not used synonymously for anus in English, is it? I believe a German Rosettenstein version wouldn't sell too well.
Didn't we have a thread about this from one of our military dudes?
Pretty sure it was Siegebreaker
What I've seen of it so far seems pretty good.

Yeah, but he was inquiring about English.
Why not take a course at your local college?

That would be the best option, but some of us work for a living. Can't just leave the office Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 11.

If there are no evening courses, then I suggest you at least do a language exchange. Not only do you have potential to meet hotties, but more importantly, meeting someone once or twice a week is an excellent way to keep you motivated during self-study.
As for Rosetta Stone software in particular, as someone who has studied a number of languages, I've yet to find a computer program as effective as a comprehensive beginner/intermediate textbook. Either way, you're going to have to put in some hard hours of rote memorization of vocab et al. If I were you, I'd save some bucks and go for the traditional textbook / audio CD route instead.
