QuoteDid Schwarzenegger drop 4-letter bomb in veto?
Phillip Matier,Andrew Ross, Chronicle Columnists
(10-27) 19:19 PDT SACRAMENTO -- Did Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office use a coded veto message to send the f-bomb to Tom Ammiano, soon after the San Francisco assemblyman made news by telling the governor to "kiss my gay ass"?
Schwarzenegger's people say no. But the X-rated evidence is hard to miss in a message that Schwarzenegger sent to explain why he was vetoing an Ammiano bill dealing with financing for the Port of San Francisco.
A straight reading of the guv's letter laments "the fact that major issues are overlooked while many unnecessary bills come to me for consideration," and concludes, "I believe it is unnecessary to sign this measure at this time."
But a vertical read of the far-left-hand letters in each of the missive's eight lines offers a more blunt explanation: "I f- you."
The veto letter:

Arnie, awesomest governor since Jessee Ventura?
Tasteful.
Best. Acrostic. EVAH! :w00t:
How homoerotic by Arnie.
He steal that from me. :(
Why go to the trouble of mimicing the shading of paper that is not perfectly flat only to clumsily superimpose text that is clearly not part of the computer-generated background?

I am sure this made sense to you but seems like a run-on to the rest of us that does not make any sense.
He thinks he is being clever by being the first one to cry "Fake!"
I love it.

Ah! Danke.
The governor's office has apparently fallen for the fake as well: http://gov.ca.gov/pdf/press/2009bills/AB1176_Ammiano_Veto_Message.pdf (http://gov.ca.gov/pdf/press/2009bills/AB1176_Ammiano_Veto_Message.pdf)

That really is pretty amusing. I wonder if it was intentional...If so, the "I", seems rather weird - who says "I Fuck You" rather than just "Fuck You!"?

I don't think the 'I' was supposed to be considered part of the message. It comes in two paragraphs, with fuck being in the first one and you being in the second.

You don't think it was supposed to be "TI Fuck You Sa"?

He is Austrian
I guessed this translation: "T.I. will fuck you up, sir."
I doubt Arnie himself came up with this, but when it was pointed out to him he probably got a good laugh out of it.
I read about it in NYT. I couldn't figure out how "obscene you" was supposed to be a clever coded message.

I dunno. I remember reading an article about a day in the life of meetings with Arnie, and the only direct quote provided from him was, "Yes, we're going to screw the poor."
