Title: Test your geography skillz

Nifty little game asking you to place cities on a world map. I've managed to beat it once, usually lose about level 8 or so.

Yeah I lost on level 8 too.  Neat little game though.

Got to level 10, I don't know if I won or not.  I remember a similar game called Geosense being posted here a long time ago, you could play against other people on the internet.

15,000 on my first try.  They list some funky city in Iran that I've never heard of before, though.

Level 8 here as well.  Once you lose the boundaries, pinpointing cities in the middle of the continent gets to be a crapshoot, to say the least.  I got at least a 90 accuracy on every one of the 10 cities, but I still wasn't close enough to get the bonus.

Beat it, although I knew where gabon was better than Los Angles. My yankee geography is horrible.

For me, at least. All my geography is up to a good standard.

As long as I stay in the civilized world I'm fine, but with the barbaric parts of Asia and South America, in addition to most of Africa, I am completely lost.

Magadan, Russia on lvl 3? I mean W T F? Who the hell has heard of that place?

From which I derive most of my locational knowledge. I've never played Russia long enough to colonize the far east though, so I: Failed.

Well, I've gotten to the point I can fairly reliably beat it, as having seen the same city enough times I'll get x5 instead of x3 or x3 instead of x1. The ones that are troublesome are the larger countries- Russia, China, Brazil, Argentina, and Indonesia. You can remember a city is in northern Brazil and still get x1 score. The US ones can be a bit tough on the later maps as well; I'm always trying to put Omaha too far west and Tucson too far north for instance.

Beat it... and I have realized I have in my head very good maps of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, the Eastern half of the United States, European Russia, Japan, the Pacific, Indochina, Burma... in other words, those areas where I have fought countless wargame campaigns (world wars & ACW, Napoleonics, etc) but I possess only a limited knowledge of the center of the United States, Siberia, inner China or Africa south of the Sahara...  just to put some examples I nailed Atlanta, Boston, Nashville and Jacksonville, but missed by hundreds of kilometers Indianapolis, Las Vegas and Alburquerque! And let's just not mention Edmonton...

It looks very familiar

First try 10/17284.
Sans mouse.
Will have to try again with a mouse; when it goes fast its really hard to aim.
Though damn level 10 is harsh, I got laods of them spot on but still failed.

I love this!  Completed lvl 10 at 17k something - going does get tough when the borders disappear though.

Though I'll admit it's not my first try playing one of these things - this one is similar to the facebook app Traveler IQ Challenge (http://apps.facebook.com/travelpod-challenge/?src=from_iqprofile&_fb_fromhash=ca81760ae9fc450db333979a5c100a91) where I have the following stats:

World Challenge

Traveler IQ  137 - Superior
Rank Among Friends  1 of 12
Rank Overall  21,124 of 1,766,011
Highest score  618,862
Challenges played  10

World Capital Challenge

Traveler IQ  150 - Genius!
Rank Among Friends  1 of 7
Rank Overall  333 of 323,958
Highest score  592,019
Challenges played  42

Level 9. The cities I know, I know well, the others, not so much.

Was just 18km from Baghdad and Tel Aviv, just 24km from Tokyo.

WTF is "Bono, Nordland" and why doesn't it say "Norway"?

Also, I swear Omaha moves every time I play.

Well, Bodö is in the Nordland province of Norway, though they didn't go down to the regional level on any other question so I don't know.

Dimashq, a.k.a. Damascus, is also a bit surprising.

Ṭarābulus (aka Tripoli, Libya) was also obnoxious. If you're going to give the country names in English, be consistent and give the city names in English, too.

Pearl Harbor, Honolulu pops up a lot. Which is even odder.

Beat it, 19104...though I made some awful ones early- misread Swaziland as Switzerland and Uruguay as Ukraine. And I clicked next too hard one time which ended up with me placing Hannover in Africa.
The last ones though I got lucky for once and a bunch of British Isles places and Mumbai.
