I want to chat with some of you fags.
The only person I know with skype is a man not-so-affectionately described as "bullshit-Barry". He's in lighting, working out of Hong Kong these days, and I respect any fellow Languishite too much to inflict him on any of you.
I use iChat instead. Don't you have to pay for Skype?

I've had it for years and have never paid a dime.
Ah, okay.
I still have no reason to switch from iChat/AIM. I only use it these days for chatting with my parents.

It came preinstalled on my computer. :)
I got Skype, only use it when I play WoW with my friends...

Only for the VOIP functionality.
I Don't use it anymore but the account is at least dormant.
I have Skype installed on my workplace computer and use it everyday; if you want my contacts, PM me and I'll send you them.
Bet there will be some time zone issues, though ;)
L.

And then only if you're using it to call a real telephone. VOIP->VOIP via Skype is free.
I have it for when I need to talk to a irrational msn hater, otherwise like most of the world I use msn.
I have Skype but no reason to talk to you.

I did not even know that msn had voice chat.
And I don't think anyone I know has ever asked me to use msn.
Princesca has Skype but I don't think she ever uses it. It's free except to make international "calls" IIRC.
A couple of people now (IIRC fahdiz, some non-Languish peeps, and now FB) have asked me to install it, so I guess I should. :)
NB: I use Vent for WoW and it might be kinda fun to set up a Languish Vent server.

Yeah, they're all coming out with voice chat (gmail either already has it or is about to launch it I think). Same with Facebook.

Well, fuck you too.
I don't really believe in chatting software. I had some on the old machine, but never on this one.

They've had it for eons.
But I rarely use that anyway.

That would be totally fun. :)
The Swedish creator of Skype got filthy rich. That's all I have to say.

Sorry, couldn't hear you over the rumbling of the panzers you bent over for.

You mean the train loads of German Soldiers passing your country...
Besides it's limited how much rumbling a single light Panzer-Abteilung can make... ;)

Free internationally too. That's part of the attraction - a friend of mine uses it to keep in touch with his parents, who live in Singapore.
I've used if to call some friends.
Oh.... she told that to me. Wonder why she thinks it's not free in those cases. She has a friend in Vancouver who she has not Skyped with for this very reason.

:( I planned on getting this.
As I understand it...
If you have two peeps on computers using Skype, it's free everywhere in the world.
If you're trying to call a regular phone number using Skype, anywhere in the world, it's going to cost you money.
Though some say their international rates (using your computer to call an international number), are pretty good.

Ah, then that's good! :)
I've used Skype on official business. It's free if both parties have it, but the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired.
Mono's Skype-gripe seconded. I use AIM to talk to a pretty small group of people and other than that, people just email me or text me.

I've communicated with a friend stationed in Okinawa, and it's worked well enough.
Though, Yahoo has a similar service, and I believe Google Talk works the same way. One can always try them out and use whichever works best for you.
Ok, I get it. The friend she would have liked to call has a PC but might not be able to use Skype due to technical limitations imposed by the fact that he is blind.
I can't get the pronunciation right when I speak Braille.
