Any thoughts?
This seems to be the most common sentiment.

Let's try to remember the positives.
Ted Kennedy's life was about a driving need to cross bridges to make connections. It was about plunging deeply into the river of experience and leaving the dead weight behind. It was about drinking in fully the heady brew of politics, speeding widly into the hurly-burly without a care, taking some hard knocks, picking oneself up and heading into the twilight with no regrets and without looking back. Sure Ted was a big spender, but he had a big heart, and he knew you can't get anything worthwhile done without spending a few Kopechs. Who knows - he might have been President, if only he had hit the breaks.
I'm pretty right wing, and I don't want to speak poorly of the recently deceased.

Ditto. That's why I'm having problems coming up with anything to say.
I heard that the market was weak today as Cutty-Sark and Jameson announced an expected massive decline in sales. :(
It seems to me that most of the outpouring of emotion is being directed to memory of his brothers as he was the last remaining link to "Camelot".

Never liked the Kennedys.
He seemed to take his job seriously. That's not true of everyone on the Hill.

Hardly. I wouldn't wish death (especially a brain tumour) on anyone.

What is it with Republicans acting like its okay to wish death on the president just because he is a Democrat or an alleged "socialist" ( You guys make McCarthy proud ). When Bush was still in office, no one made "Lets wish Bush a speedy death!" threads.
You guys are twisted.

Hitler is dead already, and Obama at least got one right with the cash-for-clunchers.

Has anyone actually been hoping for Kennedy to die, except for Caroline Kennedy, who will no doubt lay claim to his Senate seat? He was no threat to the Republicans, and as a national political force, he was largely spent.
Agreed.
