Title: Legal explanation of the deporation and the Supreme court ruling validating them
Post by: viper37 on April 10, 2025, 05:21:47 PM
I like to watch this from time to time.  And I have more time now.

The Supreme Court gave a victory to the Trump administration in their deportation plan (how surprising).
They ruled that opposition to the deportation had to be filed under habeas corpus in the district where it happened.
If you're deported from Texas, you have to file from Texas and usually in person.

Also, ICE tricks people into moving them somewhere and telling they are elsewhere.  For instance, one men was moved to a location, telling him he was in New York.  He filed his court documents there.  But he wasn't in New York.  Not a valid filing.
