Mery Christmas to one and all here. And in the Christmas spirit I found this interesting, Mary Beard muses on the history and significance of the Christmas pudding, only a dozen minutes long:

Anyone else buy Xmas food for the coming Easter?
Got some nice Xmas cake and a couple of puds, but failed to find a freeze-able* turkey, Waitrose only had tired looking whole birds, and Sainsbury's was no better.
* I'm probably committing a terrible faux pas by admitting this in 'polite company'.
I'm not carrying a frozen turkey for 4 months, I'll buy a new one then.
Altho, for Easter we have smoked Ham.

A decent ham is a nice idea, but I'm just happy to have something to hand that no one will complain about not mater which members of the extended family turns up at Easter.
Plus I picked up a nice 2.5kg crown for 13 quid yesterday. :D

Same. That's a lot of space to take up for many months.
Here I'd say lamb is the classic for Easter.

Not a bad idea.
ButI use so little frozen food, I think all that's likely to be in there for the next 4months is ice, ice creams, some pet food meat and garden pees to give the lonely turkey some company. And there will still be a fair bit of space/air that I'm paying to keep cool. :)
Happy new year, people!
Mine started off with an ear infection. Apparently I am both 12 years old and 51 at once. :hmm:
