Just on the off-chance anyone planning to do much next year. :P

This year - after many attempts and struggles - finally managed to drop under 100Kg for the first time since I was 30 or so.  :w00t:

I'm currently hovering at 98-99, and the goal for 2025 is to stabilize around 96-97. Nothing super ambitious after dropping nearly 5kg this year.

Managed to drop 7 kgs since late September (well, 8 at some point) mainly thanks to the myriad of viruses I have caught through my son's nursery :p I haven't been this light (79kgs) since I don't know when, definitely not in the past 19 years.

Back in November, I had to replace my treadmill belt because I worn it out after 6 years of heavy use (story told in the OTT).
I look forward to not be doing that in 2025.

I hit my weightlifting goals of for 2024 of a pb of 315 bench press and deadlift.

This year I want to increase my reps at those weights and drop my body weight about 20lbs to get down to 275.

Maybe? The youngest should be approaching 2 so I might start to get some free time back to be able to do stuff.
I've also got the garage door fixed so thats no excuse for taking the bike out...
I really should.

So how are people doing, pushing back against the inevitable decline?  :D

I have a fairly effective routine. I walk, at a brisk pace, around 15-18 kilometres a day. I do kettlebells.
Admittedly, it is not easy to keep this going through winter all the time, but shovelling snow is good exercise.
I've had high blood pressure for some years now, so I have been changing my diet quite a bit incrementally. It helps, and I've managed to go from hypertension to high blood pressure at 130/80 (with +- 4-5 in each direction) since December.

Decline is, as you say, inevitable. So this is more like pushing towards Stalingrad than D-Day.

And there is the cost-benefit of quality of life vs longevity. I already put in about 4 hours a day of exercise and get up at ungodly hours to get some exercise in before work. So I am at my limit.

Wow Norgy, that's some accumulation of daily exercise.

I should really do more walking, as I'd guess there's only a handful of days in the whole year that I equal your daily 10-11 miles of walking.  :(

And it is the most accessible for or exercise available to most of the human race, available across nearly all of our lifespan.

Riding a bike is better for your joints. Believe me.

I walk 5 km twice on weekends and do about 4 km of treadmill 4 times a week for cardio. I have bad knees, can't run.

I also do daily weights and stretching.

It has taken a small setback this week and next since my basement is being rebuilt has taken my gym away.

So far so good, I'm down to 97. This is the trimmest I've been since my 20s.

My lifts have regressed, but not too much. Overall I'm quite happy :)

Was going to try and go from swimming 4 to 5 km a week to 7 or 8, but instead I've come down with guillain barrĂ©,  throwing plans out of the window.

Atleast it can be treated so I'm looking at a temporary setback.

But first I'll get the traitors.

Just it my 200 mile cycling target for this month, see if I can continue to add another 50 miles to each successive month?

For the first time, I really needed a spotter yesterday.  Fairly routine lift with weight I usually do without the need of any assistance, but something weird happened on one of my reps, lost power, and down the weights started going.  Spotter was on it, and got the bar back up and racked with no incident.

Thank God for good spotters  :)
