We're all old geezers and I got to thinking about how we do breakfast. What do you eat and how do you prepare it?
I'll start: If I work at home I eat a crispbread with margarine, an egg and some smoked salted cod roe with a cup of coffee. me and the wife eat breakfast together after she's sen the kids to school.
If I go into the office I bring some home baked rye bread with margarine and cheese and have a cup of coffee in front of the computer.
Chocolate milk or cafe au lait, depending on how I feel about my caffeine intake needs. Then I usually prepare myself a sandwich - here I kinda rotate among several fillings/styles/breads. I.e. today I had grilled cheese, tomorrow I'll probably do tomato (Catalan-style) with salchichón, etc...
I don't. Tea and a biscuit maybe.
Though full English is great I don't have the inclination to put in so much effort myself especially at 7am.
I value extra hours of sleep.
I guess if I'm out and about, which is rare these days, I might pick up a sausage sandwich.
I usually skip breakfast.
One of the minor tragedies of covid is the disappearance of buffets. I loved chowing down on breakfast/brunch buffets. Four sausage patties, six strips of bacon (the Murican type), a pile of scrambled eggs, some hash browns. A couple bites of fruit for show.
During the week typically yogurt with oats and a coffee. Sometimes Müsli.
On the weekend, we spend more time. Typical variations include pancakes, overnight oats, porridge, rolls with cheese, jam, cold cuts. Maybe once every other month it's Weißwurst, a typical Bavarian breakfast.
Müsli, eggs, juice, and coffee.

I just thought about anything specifically Austrian for breakfast but could not think of anything. Maybe some coffee variants. Is there anything?
Generally nothing, just a coffee. At the weekend/non-working days smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast (or muffins) or kippers, orange juice and coffee.
Every morning 125g* of cereal, either granola, muesli, wheaties or branflakes, + 150-200g of full milk. Also orange squash for the water, I can't drink fruit juices + a mug of instant coffee.
Doesn't take long and means I don't have to think about cooking anything.
* I need this much as it'll last me through to the evening meal, as I never have lunch either out or at home.
Is musli just granola?
I'm not really a breakfast person, but if i do eat I have granola and yogurt.
Generally toast. Usually with peanut butter, sometime marmalade or marmite. Two mugs of tea.
At the office alternate between cereal or a bacon or sausage sandwich.
I have a bowl of yogurt with muesli almost every day. I accompany it with either toats or a bagel. Cream cheese or American cheese are also a staples.
On Saturdays, I cook full English breakfast for my family.
On Sundays, I cook crepes for my family.
I'm big on food rituals to build rapport between family members.

Are you sure this is what you mean? Like with the baked beans and that weird looking sausage?

Yes. I don't have the weird sausage every week, that would probably kill us. I don't fry the toasts because that's disgusting. It also includes a lot more maple syrup than what people in England probably do.
Two eggs, protein shake, coffee, and either a small apple or orange. That's my breakfast.
Most commonly: a latte, toast (or fresh bread if available) with butter and sometimes jam and/ or cheese, an egg, and some apple. The most common alternative is plain full-fat yogurt with fresh fruit (whatever is at hand) and muesli, as well as the latte.
Oatmeal in whole milk with frozen blueberries, put in the fridge overnight.
French press coffee.

Nothing special, but many places offer a "Viennese Breakfast", i.e. two rolls, butter and jam with a coffee.

Even McDonald's has it as part of its breakfast menu, and at under 3 EUR is one of the better deals out there. But tbh, I don't think it's particularly Viennese except for the name. :D For coffee ... you'd either go with a Verlängerter (i.e. "normal" coffee - its name means "extended", because it's technically an espresso made with twice the amount of water), or a melange (similar to cappuccino).
Other than that ... maybe Ei im Glas (egg in a glass)? Boiled egg with solid white/soft yolk, served in a glass, often with some herbs, or some avocado or bacon or veggies or something.
There's a Gabelfrühstück, which is usually something warm eaten later in the morning (and originally eaten with a fork = Gabel, hence the name, but it can also be a soup), but it's more of a brunch than a breakfast.
In the weekends, when I have time I usually either do American style pancakes with maple syrup or bake some breakfast rolls of some kind.
I tried baked beans on toast. Surprisingly good. Wife did not think that it should be our Saturday breakfast.

What's the weird looking sausage in the American version of the full English?
On workdays I have a coffee with milk, cookies (sometimes exchanged for a croissant or a similar pastry) and a glass of juice.
On weekends or holidays I have a bowl of cereal or oats instead, or maybe just chocolate milk.

Didn't have you pegged for a gym rat, V.
Gym days: protein shake and coffee
Non-gym days: Grapenuts, 2% milk, and coffee
I'm going to try to vary things up, though, since I'm way too low on protein and calories. Single serving overnight French toast casserole, soft boiled egg with toast, etc. And coffee. Always coffee. :mmm:

45 minutes six days a week. It is all part of my efforts to avoid diabetes.

I guess Ei im Glas is special, the rest not so much. It's interesting that Croissants etc. are called "viennoiserie" in French but actually are not that common in Austria.
Bagel.
I've rarely eaten more than once a day since I've gotten covid, so I usually skip breakfeast and lunch.
When I do have breakfast, it's two slice of brown bread, usually toasted, with peanut butter or two small greek yogurt with fruits. I drink either milk or water, sometimes black coffee, but less often than I did. Sometimes, it's just two cups of black coffee.
Usually skip it. Sometimes bacon & eggs, maybe a biscuit.
During the week, usually tea and toast.
I have gone 180 on breakfast. There was a period of time when I fasted until lunch. But now I am all in on breakfast and especially on the days I work out. When I get back from the gym I start with frying potato slices in olive oil, then I add onions or shallots; then add mushrooms; and the some leafy green (normally kale or spinach). Last thing I add to the pan is (and this is not for the feint of heart) sauerkraut.
I put that on a plate and then fry up three eggs, after adding a bit more olive oil to the pan. Put the eggs over the rest of it on the plate and voila - CC mash.
I'm kinda like you CC, I fasted til lunch for many years but have been making breakfast every morning since covid era started.
My main breakfasts are basically between these 3 options based on my mood / pantry situation:
1. Bagel + cream cheese + bit of capers + smoked salmon
2. 1 cup of oatmeal
3. A "country" (i.e. not pretty) style omelet with 2 eggs, 2 egg whites, usually mushrooms and whatever meat I have handy (often ground turkey for health reasons.)
I don't usually eat any greens at breakfast, I try to get my daily greens by adding a large salad to whatever I have for lunch.
I'm currently fasting til lunch on the 16/8 thing. Finding it quite tough, perhaps because I get up at 5.30.
I tend not to. If I do it'll be some toast or a bagel or some Ritz crackers and peanut butter.
If I have leftover pizza I'll reheat that.

That is when I hit the gym. I found that I took so much time during lunch to eat that it broke up my day too much. Now I prepare a large breakfast after the gym and eat a light lunch and dinner. That works best for me now.
