This is a family of rednecks I created in Sims 3, with the intention of letting them mostly fend for themselves and seeing how they do. I exercise only minimal amount of direct control over them to do things that they won't normally do (like repairing broken items).
First, family introductions.

This is Grandpa Jebediah. He is a senile, insane, childish old man who often acts inappropriately and eats like a slob.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN02.jpg&hash=e0b0cfc7b6705d30e9af3229776aa1707ec374df)
This is Grandma Susy Mae. She is the person who tries to keep the household clean and supplied with food (usually). Because this is an enormous task, she is often grumpy and absent-minded. She also couldn't be woken from her sleep by an erupting volcano.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN03.jpg&hash=16d881cf9ce91cc662cb99c42920808b56cfd217)
This is Zeke, older son of Jebediah and Susy Mae. He is good with his hands - if he ever gets off the couch. Usually he gets off only to mooch food from friends and neighbors.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN04.jpg&hash=e814672dbc36a198e971f74c080e61e5c20db7ac)
This is Uncle Jethro, younger son of Jebediah and Susy Mae. He is a mean, nasty man with absolutely no sense of humor and a propensity to steal things. In his free time he enjoys making plans for world domination.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN05.jpg&hash=426c47b682ae3fe6e4d6d4c4977d3a64591b7109)
This is Betty Jane, Zeke's wife. She is neurotic and overly emotional woman who hates spending money and prefers to mooch for food from her neighbors. She considers herself to be a better class of person and looks down on lesser beings.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN06.jpg&hash=f24453de9d6cc24ec882f86edc7769e24b9ecb83)
This is Jackson, teenage son of Zeke and Betty Jane. He is a total loser, cowardly, clumsy, and unlucky. He tends to have "bathroom accidents" at school and regularly gets beaten up.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN07.jpg&hash=fbf24cf7350aa4674bab2a5055253ccb4d5cb5b3)
This is Mary Sue, teenage daughter of Zeke and Betty Jane. She is a complete skank who has flirted with and kissed every boy in her class, not being able to settle on just one boyfriend. She loves partying and having a good time.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN08.jpg&hash=2a43175bd0ebb473def7d7b8a6ff8ef9102d2c3c)
And finally Lee, the newest addition to the family, the toddler son of Zeke and Betty Jane. We don't know what he will be like yet (well I do since I rolled up his traits randomly). Hopefully someone will bother to potty train him.
It is Sunday. Here's the family trailer house, in the town of Riverview near the water tower. It's pretty crappy and filled with the cheapest possible stuff.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN09.jpg&hash=35382a6ae5ffdb840dba251fdedcd146afb0c1aa)

As the family admire their home, Grandpa decides that it's a good time to work out while watching the Sports Channel.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN11.jpg&hash=5dabeaa5cb274a314f0dde724a881d1bcb6b847c)

Mindful of his hygiene, he brushes his teeth afterwards.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN13.jpg&hash=f3e22e49e4bd10d9c30ac6c2e2744ef298ba40a6)
Then he takes a sponge bath in the bathroom.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRn14.jpg&hash=b3e6c8c5583d103352c0d7841142a4de90641ac7)
Satisfied, he checks himself out in the mirror while Zeke is already on the couch watching TV.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN15.jpg&hash=3be0d66553a2ad4e4d085f252aba302cd883f220)
Meanwhile, Mary Sue has been talking to Uncle Jethro and listening to his so-called jokes. The result:
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN16.jpg&hash=eea40af10f6321ee6b9300b447cca88531264248)
Uh-oh, looks like Grandpa has been working out too hard! His stomach doesn't feel good.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN17.jpg&hash=98f06b7cc2d86d115f665a76ba9b5f6ae2d458df)
Somewhat upset, he decides to get the fun back by scaring his grandson.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN18.jpg&hash=5eb790b7a39247aa84365548836acfd841abe7d4)
His relationship with his younger grandson seems to be better, although the toddler looks somewhat worried...
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN19.jpg&hash=48d2e52177df56ea889c556dbf4fea2455e7d3ee)
After Betty Jane eats some cereal, Grandpa helps keep the dishes clean.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN20.jpg&hash=df2ab23caf1e71081dc2cf596a4aba5c1481ef3e)
Meanwhile, Grandma has been waiting for him in the bedroom. They decide to... well, the code name for it in this game is WooHoo. I suggest you don't dwell on the details.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN21.jpg&hash=671e3cc57ddf05596028050753cdbc8d03c3af15)
Some time later, Mary Sue talks to Grandpa. She obviously understands his language.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN22.jpg&hash=1d3ed8637b6aa6e7ed166236f3437f91b62905c7)
Not happy with eating crappy fast food, Mary Sue gets into cooking, making some mac and cheese. The family appreciates it.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN23.jpg&hash=571a51def61a365ba2e4e288d6009c5ce759fd6a)

Except for Jackson, who apparently doesn't like his sister's cooking and makes some salad himself. Amazingly, it doesn't explode in his face.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN25.jpg&hash=0a8bb8fe074bd4c359729f7bc465f4d28c214076)
Evening meal thus finished, the family settles in to sleep.

Check sexysims2.com; they have a mod that allows for teenage preganancy and family relations.
When I started a game with mulitple sims they never seemed to figure out where their beds were. Instead they tended to piss themselves and then sleep in the puddle. They were a filthy people.

Princesca ran out and bought it, and predictably is already bored with it. I'll probably borrow it from her in a week or two, get bored with it in a few days, and return it. The Sims is one of those things that is neat conceptually but ultimately makes a crappy game.
You can return used pc games?
Oh yeah and : Cheapo! :weep:
Sorry, I meant return it to her, not to the store.
LOL has this tale become: The Neverending Story?
A new day dawns as the family begins to wake up. Uncle Jethro has some harsh words with Mary Sue, insulting her appearance.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN27.jpg&hash=8c4a2a3ced3d1c3e45cd5fcf4249c217181374ec)

Grandpa continues to pester Grandma with various arguments. Meanwhile, you can see Uncle Jethro cooking up evil plots.
(https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv186%2FSolmyr%2FSims3%2FRN32.jpg&hash=c46fba8d64ff21e9ff0c0fb268155f1e50460db3)
Jethro's plots come to fruition as he steals candy from Lee. Zeke doesn't seem to care much.

After school, Mary Sue goes to the McDermott residence, which is much nicer than her own trailer house.

She then puts some moves on him, while Max's father Luke watches, probably not too convinced this girl is good for his son.

Unfortunately Mary Sue's flirting is interrupted by the arrival of Max's annoying little brother who gets his attention.

Mary Sue then tries to endear herself to Luke, while Luke's wife eyes her suspiciously.

Jackson got a part-time job at the bookstore, and his first work day goes by without incidents.

As the day draws to a close, the family settles in to sleep. Except Grandpa, who spends most of the night rummaging in the trash can.

It is like a visual languish argument! Everyone is there!
I borrowed this game from Princesca and have been playing it for about a week.
AAR to date: I tried to create myself in the game (in terms of appearance and personality traits) and I just started out as a young single adult. I started off as a busboy at a diner living in a double-wide, and a few days later got a business track job (IIRC the first level is a bicycle courier) via the newspaper.
In like two weeks of game time I had already been promoted to the CEO. The game keeps telling me I've been elected Governor via a write-in campaign and trying to get me to switch career tracks, but I don't wanna do that until I max out in the business track (I guess next position is Chairman of the Board?)
So I've only moved once, to a ranch house, but it's all pimped out now with nice computer/stereo/appliances and I made the bathroom much larger.
Also, I have two girlfriends... one is a 'co-worker' with title CEO (not sure how that works) and trait 'Rich'. Basically I met her at work, invited her over to my house, and convinced her to break up with her husband in a single night. I've only banged her once and I guess I'm just using her to get ahead, as she has kids and occasionally tries to bring her infant over (at which time I'm like GTFO and invite my other girlfriend over). My other girlfriend is an Asian chick who is married but I haven't asked her to leave her husband yet. I haven't been able to bang her yet, which is weird since she's got the 'Flirty' trait.
What's strange is the first chick still lives in her huge estate with her ex-husband, and sometimes I go over there and make out with her and stuff. In between makeout sessions I go into his study and beat the shit out of him. Then when I get tired of that I go and sleep in his bed (with his ex-wife) and he sleeps in one of his kid's beds (not sure where the kid is).
I'm glad to see that the realism of this game is increased over its predecessor.
Never tried a "Sims" game. Maybe I should...?
Fun AAR. I wish my old system could run SIMS 3. :(
I've thought about getting it, but I don't depressed Raz simulacrum taking up hard drive space.
 There's no rule that you have to simulate yourself.

Sims 3 has been fun (I do wish I could run it on my desktop instead of just on the laptop because of slowdown issues that have nothing to do with the game); I'm still getting used to the way they've cut a few of the options from Sims 2, but I'll admit I've only scratched the surface, so there's probably a lot I'm missing.
Should I get Sims 3? I have never played a Sims game but maybe I should. Problem is that it's a girl's game and I am not secure enough in my masculinity to ignore this.

Buy a FPS or highly detailed grognard WWII sim with it. It'll balance out.

view it as a career tracker sim with rpg elements mixed with a building stuff game and your masculinity is safe!
