The humble giant.  He was one of the best spokesmen for human space travel I've heard.

He jokingly said NASA sent him to the wrong planet, that it should have been Mars.

The Smithsonian had a write up on him:

Collins is significant to the Smithsonian (in addition to his role on the Apollo 11 mission) for being fundamental in the establishment of the National Air and Space Museum and later being its director.

And that attitude is why NASA didn't let Michael Collins walk on the moon.  :P
