BUTLER, Mo. (CBS/AP) Buy a truck and get a free AK-47 gun.
That's the deal a Missouri truck dealer is offering new customers who buy a pick-up truck in August.
Mark Muller, owner of Max Motors in Butler, says he knows people will be bothered by the promotion.
But not to worry, Muller is not handing out free guns. Instead, he will give buyers a voucher to use at a gun store after they obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon.
The AK-47 is an upgrade on a previous promotion in which Muller gave away vouchers for the price of a Caltec pistol.
The retail value of an AK-47 is $450 dollars, but Muller says customers can spend their voucher on the gun of their choice.

I was being facetious about the 0.5% bit, but no way are a third of all pickups that I see on the highways work vehicles. Maybe 10%, tops.
"About 75% of pickup buyers use their vehicles in their jobs; the remaining 25% don't need a pickup's capability for their day-to-day life, industry figures show. That smaller group is most likely fleeing from high gas prices, trading in their trucks for sedans or compact cars. "

Doesn't match very well with the statement in the same article that truck sales account for 75% of vehicles sold by Chrysler, 62% for Ford, and 60% for GM. Heck, according to the article, even for Honda and Toyota, it's 42%. Now that does count SUVs and vans in with light trucks, but there's no way truck sales are that big a percentage of all new vehicle sales if 75% of pickup buyers use them in their jobs. Unless those using "their vehicles in their jobs" includes those who use their pickups for their daily commute to work.

Most of the people that I've known in my life that drove pickups were contractors/tradesmen that need them for carrying tools & materials: carpenters, plumbers/pipefitters, electricians, roofers, drywallers, HVAC, etc. It's not always obvious what it is that they're doing, but I would definitely say that these people regularly need "their vehicles in their jobs."

So, in the heyday of SUV sales, there were a lot of SUV sales. That says
nothing about how pickup truck owners use their pickups. The 75% tally is about what I see, out here in pick-em-up-truck-land.

Depends of the job, depends of the range.
The SKS, despite what wanna-be snipers might think, does not have a range or accuracy advantage on a M-16, let alone on a proper rifle.

My M110, which is nowhere as good as my shooter's M24, have a 10 power scope and is accurate up to 1000m shooter dependant. I have taken out e-type pop-up siluetes all the way to 1200m with my M110. I can't get a head shot pass 700, but center mass, add 500m to my range.
