Title: [Console] NCAA Football '10
Post by: Ed Anger on July 13, 2009, 05:36:51 PM
Due out tomorrow on your favorite machine. Unless it is a PC or a Wii. If you have a Wii, get a real console, you homo.

After playing the demo (Gators-Sooners) on the sexybox360, I have no idea how the running game is, as it was passing all the way. Would've been nice to see how the running game is.

Also, Hitler hates it:

I just did a search on YouTube for "Hitler Hates".  The results are stunning.

I will undoubtedly buy this within the next month, and will, as usual, be annoyed and pissed off by it.

I can't wait.

I have go that game basically every other year for the last 8-10 years, I highly doubt I will get it this year.  It has lost some luster every year.  Had some great times leading the Ducks to national dominance though.

I'm thinking about grabbing it up for 360.  Buffalo needs to make to a Bowl game and win.

I had it on pre-order for the 360 & had just enough time to get in a game this evening. My kid thinks he's watching real football on TV :D

So far, so good.  The Team Builder thing is a gimmick, but it should be fun.  I had fun creating my junior high team when they had a similar feature a few years back.

The game needs a few IAA teams IMO.  Hopefully someone creates some.  Has anyone ever downloaded rosters?

For anyone looking to get this for the 360, Best Buy has a deal this week where you get a free 3-month Gold subscription, 400 MS points and a headset if you are a Rewards Zone member and purchase the game.

Hey...on that teambuilder thing, is the online part of it actually copied into the game and used on the field (helmet logos, etc), or is that just some bullshit they had to get people to that website or something?

Or have you not gotten that far yet?  If not...heh...

Haven't gotten nearly that far yet, but that's my understanding of how it works.  Might be pretty damned cool if it actually works correctly.

Yes you are suppose to be able to download your created team into the game.
Derspicy i dl'd rosters from EA last year with no problem, haven't looked yet to see but sure must have some pretty up to date rosters out there

Did the EA rosters have player names?  That's always my biggest gripe about the game (though of course I understand why it has to be that way).

They did, technically they weren't ea rosters, just hosted on the ea site, made by zealous football fans

Pros: Glorious on giant TV
Once you get used to the controls, spoon eared Pryor is great. Tebow is a fucking Tank.
My daughter yelled 'BRUTUS!' when he ran on the field after a touchdown.

Cons: Too many injuries. It is fucking hockey out there.

After playing a bit, I bet you could do that with Florida or Ohio State in the game(with the current roster). Just roll the QB out of the pocket, and run like hell.

Just hope ERIN FUCKING ANDREWS doesn't give an injury report on Tebow or Pryor.

I ran the power I triple option :menace: pitching the ball right took a little practice.

I doubt anybody still runs that in NCAA '10 :P

Was also possible with WVU the previous 2 years.  Pat White's arm was so underrated you almost had to, in fact.

Has anyone ever messed with the custom stadium sounds?  I'm tired of the WVU fight song they've had on there for 9 years, espec. since it's played wrong.

I had not thought about WV and the other spread option running attacks those might be fun.

Maybe if Michigan ever gets good at running it they will be able to attract the talent needed to be a new Nebraska running juggernaut.

Seedy will be amused that as Ohio State, I couldn't beat Alabama in the Outback bowl. And I tried twice.

After further play, I like that the QB pocket can exist now, and if you have a good line, you can take your eye off the line for a second to look at the receivers. And the disrupted graphics when looking at the play in an away stadium to simulate crowd noise/rattled QB.

I disliked the midget that was playing for the Marshall Thundering Turd. Fucker wasn't even up to the waist of the other players. Must have been a bug.

Yeah, that was fun when it took me to the purchase screen.  I had assumed you could "purchase" them with accumulated game points or something.  EA did that in the original Godfather game-- some weapons & hired gunmen cost MS points.  It's one thing if it's an expansion pack or maps or something, but something that shows up in the game as shipped is crossing the line.

Wait til you see the fee for adding created team slots (above the 12 or so you get for free).  The jerks want the equivalent of $15 for an extra 10 slots.

Speaking of the created teams, there are already a buttload of them out there to download (my junior high team is a work in progress but it's out there under my name).  Someone created a University of Delaware team-- might run them through a season in the MAC or C-USA.

Oh, and there's also a profanity warning that pops up when you go to download someone's created team :shifty:

There was a few more during the offseason. One to purchase an thing to offer recruits extras to come to your school and one if you are doing a small school to boost your players stats more.

None of it is needed, I got Ohio State to an A+ rating on offense and Defense without having to buy extra bullshit.

Yes.

Sadly, ESPN has overexposed her at sporting events. And EA uses her presence in the game as a selling point.

Way to go.

QuoteA video made of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews undressing in her hotel room is now being used to spread a computer virus, according to sophos.com, an anti-virus software company.

A video of Andrews undressing was shot through the peephole of her hotel room and then quickly made its way to the internet in recent days. Soon after websites cropped up claiming to be links to the video but were actually a way to release a virus into the user's system.

"Hackers are no slacks when it comes to taking advantage of a hot internet search trend, and they have been quick to set up bogus webpages claiming to contain the video footage of Ms. Andrews in her hotel room," said Graham Cluley of Sophos.

Back to NCAA/Madden, I pre-ordered Madden on Amazon-- I'm effectively getting it for $44 shipped after the $10 gift card deal & 10% ECA discount.

On deals, Gatestop was having a 30 or 40 dollar trade in deal for those who traded in NCAA for Madden. I guess it is for the short attention span folks.

That one threw me for a loop.  Why would I want to trade in NCAA 10 before the season even begins?

I think you should get the nude Erin Andrews video.  The nude Madden video is sure to disappoint.

Not that I am saying there is anything wrong with being "itching to pull the trigger" to a nude John Madden video, mind.

Okay I'm getting sick of the AI running kickoffs back for TDs, shedding every tackle attempt & using superhuman blockers, after I score on a long, time-consuming drive.  Had it happen twice in one half against *Marshall*, FFS.  Quick scan of the EA forum seems to indicate this to be a bug or "feature".

I guess one positive is that I'm getting some great "classic" games

Honestly, I'd be a bit surprised if it didn't just turn out to be a pimped out tech demo for that engine.  Maybe EA will buy it and use it for NCAA/Madden 11 or 12.

Anyone still playing this, or did everyone move on to Madden when it came out?  I ended up picking it up on Friday, and I'm having a pretty good time.  Teambuilder is pretty cool now that customer support got everything working right for me.   I've made the entire Southland Conference (well...the football teams...replaced the Sun Belt with them...not too huge of a drop off heh), and goddammit, it's awesome.  A whole conference of cupcakes battling it out for the opportunity to be crushed in a bowl game by the likes of Ohio or Buffalo.

Edit:  I just recruited an obese wide receiver who also happens to be fast.  Sweet.

If anyone wants to kick my ass in MP, let me know.  LETS DO THIS

Are you on Xbox or PS3?  If Xbox, let me know your gamer tag & I'll add you.  I'm probably at least as bad playing online as you are, since I try to play the game like an actual football game & not just use glitches/exploits over & over.

I got through 3 seasons of Ohio State (and 2 BCS championships) before giving it a break.

I was thinking of doing that create a player thingie, especially since you do the high school championships, but my loathing of Erin Andrews puts me off that.

You can skip through all the Erin Andrews stuff pretty easily.  The high school playoff thing is a good change of pace (playing as a particular position instead of everything), plus the arbitrary high school names generated from random city names can be entertaining.  The odds do seem a little stacked in favor of your own team, but that's okay IMO since you can't control anything outside of what your player does.

You can indeed use actual logos.  You make the team on your computer, then download it onto your console.  There's an option to use generic logos, logos already in the game (for example, the Longhorns logo), and then there's the option to upload your own main and secondary (you can also use those to pick your team colors instead of the palette thing).  It's pretty cool, although they still don't allow text on the front of uniforms for some reason, despite shitloads of teams having that.  You can put a logo in the front-center though.

Fffff  I started a new dynasty (without importing the SLC heh) using Florida International, and just got utterly annihilated in my first three games (@Bama, @Rutgers, Toledo), but ended up managing to win the next three in a row, including two on the road, which were all conference games.  3-3 (3-0).  Nice.

FIU is weird.  Their QB and top WRs all have very respectable ratings, considering the team and all, but it's rather difficult getting anything going with them using the passing game.  THP and THA are high for the QB (88 and 90, overall 88), but he'll just lob the ball to nowhere if I don't try to "aim" it myself.   The WRs are 87 and 81 (CTH 86, 78, catch in traffic some similar numbers, etc), but they both have really bad cases of the drops if I don't do it for them, which can be irritating sometimes since I suck at this game and screw it up a lot.

Also, I can't run a proper screen to save my life.  <_<

Edit:  And of course now that I typed this, I can suddenly just light things up with this offense.

I just had the booth challenge the SPOT of a catch in the endzone, overturn the TD, place the ball at the one, and give me a first down (it was in the middle of the "M" in SMU when the catch was made, on first and goal from the 4).  What the hell?

Edit:  I'd make a highlight of it, but it and the play just after it (an incomplete pass) appear to have be totally removed from the game.   In the drive summary page where you make highlights, there's a run to the 4 yard line, followed immediately by a pass from the 1.

Edit2:  heh heh:

Note the actual points put on the board in the first vs what it says in the drive summary thing.  Also fuck Texas A&M.

Heh - I have that page open in a separate thread before you even posted it.

Do I do this through NCAA, or through the Xbox menu?

Through the game. Remember to login after you turn on the system

A good thing to remember before putting in any sexybox360 game is to login in to xbox live. My nephew played through a third of one of those Call of Duty games w/o logging in. Hilariously, he wondered why the game didn't save his progress.

Can someone do me a favor and check and see what shows up if you do a teambuilder search for teams with me as the author (username MadBurgerMaker), and all the other options set for all or any?

Hm.  Well damn.  For whatever reason, the updates aren't "taking," and I even tried to set it to public.  Thanks kat.

The damn bowl replica stadiums wipe out home field advantage because they split the crowd, which is dumb btw, so...no Alamodome for UTSA.  I'm trying to find a stadium that has minimal markings, is a horseshoe, and has around 50k seats (a long term proposal for UTSA is to have a stadium like this on campus).

Or I could just disregard all that shit about markings and size and stick them in Ohio State's stadium.

Edit:  Oh hey UNLV has a nice little horseshoe stadium with no markings on it.
