I'm throwing a fiesta. Everyone will be a white southerner. I'm trying to put together a playlist. My idea is to start with some gypsy kings and expand from there to any good music that either has a hispanic singer or just mentions a hispanic topic or a spanish word in some way.
I know jack shit about music, so this is what I have so far, and am looking for ideas:
-Gypsy Kings, Volare
-Gypsy Kings, Bomboleo
-Enrique Iglesias, Bailando
-Shakira, Hips don't Lie
-JOan Baez, viva mi patria bolivia
-Willie Nelson, Pancho and Lefty
-Willie Nelson & Ray Charles, Seven Spanish Angels
-Nelson/Haggard/Cash/Kristopherson, Highwaymen (I like the song and they say Mexico at one point)
I figure I need about a dozen more songs. Ideas?
My Buena Vista Social Club playlist helped get me laid with a half Mexican girl about a decade ago. :)
Sublime - Caress Me Down :D
La Bamba - Richie Valens
How Will the Wolf Survive - Los Lobos
Juantanamera (sp?) who the fuck knows
The Macarena
Oye Como Va -- Santana
Low Rider - War
La Vida Loca -- the homo son
The one big hit by that chick who's dad was Tito Fuentes

Hispania to be on the safe side, plus it's broader. :)

For a mainstream-ish party I'd rather go with Entre dos Tierras by Heroes del Silencio :P

I refuse to partake on this cultural appropriation. I bet everybody in AR's party will be wearing Mexican hats.
you guys rock. :) Except for mono, thanks for the effort man, but your tastes are not good.
Cel, sorry for raping your culture. :(
Calling the Gipsy Kings hispanic is a huge stretch.
Ana Tijoux - 1977 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiQ7S38nKog)
Actually, have a look at this Breaking Bad playlist on Spotify, there's probably more titles that'd fit the theme: spotify:user:nickwalsh113:playlist:6gL1rQaRBEuju02dlPE8Co
Like Marty Robbins' El Paso - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UVVS5-9HvA

Moreso than French gypsies? :P

I'm taking a very expansive view of the term. Gipsy kings are surely more Hispanic than willie Nelson? :P
Guillermo Nelson is one of the greats.
And Willie Nelson is more Hispanic than Kris Kristoferson.
Mamas, don't let your ninos grow up to be vaqueros
Cultural Appropriation!
I just found Hotel California by Gipsy Kings. I thought someone here recommended it, but it seems not...for some reason I searched for it, and man that song is way better than the original.
I'm also going to add in "I took a pill in Ibiza". Omitting that would be a huge miss.
Girl from Ipamena
Mambo Number Five
Rico Suave
Already mentioned by Yi, but I have to second:
Macarena
La Vida Loca
[I assume you're going for deliberately kitsch / campy songs, not actually for artistic merit]
I was going for good songs that people will want to listen to, but are acceptable to a general audience.

Well scratch Rico Suave and Macarena from my suggestions then.
The others are dated but quite catchy songs. :)
Macarena is schlock but chicks like to dance to it.
Amigos Para Siempre
Ay dios mio.
Beck, Tropicalia
Beck, Guero
Santana feat. Rob Thomas, Smooth
Las Ketchup, Asereje
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Matador
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cabròn

Any person that recommends Beck should be flogged.

So how did it go? Did they award you the scholarship?
It hasn't happened yet. Still time for music suggestions. :)
I'll give an update when it happens. It will be awesome. :)
Feel free to post pics of slutted up hotties that show. :)
