Some nice stuff there, imho.

The big 2 states choices (NY & California) are weird.
How is New York's weird, that's an iconic scene.
Rhode Island's looks interesting.
You know for some states they could have picked better films. Super Troopers? Is that the best you can do?

Dead Poets society. State and Main.
Note, Insomnia was a remake of a Norwegian movie starring a Swedish actor, not a Swedish move.

A great film that shouldn't have been touched.

Why add California then? Point Break is a fine film.
And King Kong is something of a classic, although I'm sure that there are better movies that take place in New York, some of which are directed by Martin Scorsese.
Mississippi's movie is a perfect choice. I love In the Heat of the Night. The wife and I are watching it (started last night- had to go to bed).

Illinois wins.
Good choice for Arkansas (True Grit). I figured they would have used Sling Blade.

While the ending of
King Kong is certainly an iconic scene, the majority of the movie doesn't take place there.
I don't guess I can complain about West Virginia's movie being
We Are Marshall, but derspiess is gonna be ticked. Gotta admit, personally I would have picked either
Matewan or
October Sky.

Colorado, though, is the best: Wolverines! Wolverines! :D

My pick for California would have been Boogie Nights, and Night of the Hunter for West Virginia.
Love the pick for Virgina, though. How about The Godfather for NYC though? Would make a lot more sense, I think. An immigrant's story, one of the best movies ever made, etc...
Bit heavy on the Costner movies there. Why is Texas not Alamo; and why is NC not Cape Fear?

Good call on Cape Fear, btw. The original is an all time classic.

Just too bad "Deliverance" takes place in Georgia(I think).
For my own state, I suppose "Singles" is better than the only alternative they probably thought of, "Sleepless in Seattle".
Hell, maybe should have gone with "McQ", even if it is one of the Duke's more passable films.
pff, spread across multiple pages, can't we just have a list.
What should be the criteria for this? The best movie that is set in the state or the one that captures the feel of the state?
Also Utah's suck. I'm sure there's a movie about mormons that fits better.

Arkansas has always been a frontier between the South and the West. Jesse James, who one could argue is more associated with the Wild West, was active in the Ozarks. And Fort Smith, where True Grit is set, is right next to Indian Country. It was indeed "Western" back in those days. Ever hear of the Hanging Judge, Isaac Parker? :P
Primary Colors would have been an acceptable choice too for a movie set in the state.

Yeah, that documentary is comedy gold. The first 30 minutes are a bunch of semi-retarded white trash trying to act all hard. If some redneck whore with a hick accent tried tell me she's a Crip G or whatever the fuck, I'd laugh at her. The last 30 minutes show the REAL hard, pipe-hitting niggers. And Neil, I assure you, our niggers are just as brutal and violent as any in the nation.
But Gang War: Bangin' In Little Rock is most notable for one scene. Watch around the 37:00 minute mark. A few minutes into it, some niggers get shot at in a drive-by. I'm not sure (I don't spend that much time in the hood), but I think it happened around MLK Jr. Boulevard. I think you'd appreciate that. :)
This is what Mississippi's movie should have been:

Those dumb fucking white boys with obviously retarded headshapes talking in ebonics and waving their hands around. Fucking ridiculous. I mean, I know it's a combination of their own idiocy, rap music/media and the fact that they probably spent their formative years being pushed around by negro gangs, but they're still a bunch of chumps.

Of that I have no doubt. Whenever we excuse the evil actions of a race and show them that there is no consequence for evildoing, they learn these sorts of behaviors.
