LMPD investigating deadly home invasion
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot during an apparent home invasion. It happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Benoch Avenue.
LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell says the intruder, who appears to be in his teens or early 20s, was shot dead by the home owner.
It's not yet clear if the suspect had a weapon. We do know there was a man and a woman inside the home at the time of the break-in.
Mitchell says in home invasion situations people have a right to defend themselves "by any means necessary when it gets to that. But in this case, unfortunately someone was killed."
