The military review started 40 minutes ago so here it goes:
Joyeuse Fête Nationale ! :frog:
PS: Valmy is perfectly entitled to call it Bastille Day (prise de la Bastille).
:w00t: :frog:
I'll be rooting for Pinot and Rolland today!

Don't be ridiculous. The Guillotine would not even be introduced as a method for execution until three years after 1789. People would usually be hanged from lamp posts by angry mobs until then. You have to wait until August 10th to celebrate the glories of the Guillotine.
Today the French people stood tall in their assertion of their right to bear arms, well to bear powder that would enable them to use said arms anyway, in defense of their liberties against the assembled armies of King Louis. Vive la nation -_-
Aux armes citoyens, aux armes!
Happy birthday, Valmy!

Happy birthday, Valmy!
My Birthday is actually the 17th but thank you
I missed my kids being able to climb over an Armored Car, but I had to be home this year on the 14th. :(
One of my best memories - spending July 14th 1989 in Paris. :frog:
We had a huge party in our backyard in 1989. Hordes of French exchange students assaulted our makeshift Bastille. Good times.

Saying you were a 'man of 1789' was a great way to get arrested for being counter-revolutionary during the terror.

Yeah, its a shame that the general public associates this date more with the terror which followed than with the promise of the Declaration of the Rights of Man.

He may have extended his Greek vacation to be ready to help man the barricades
Actually, he's the new minister of finance.
The French got a thorough beating by a Brit in le Tour. :( :bowler:

They are still cursed. Stupid Bernard Hinault and his cheating of Greg LeMond.
