Title: Upgrading graphics card
Post by: Solmyr on May 18, 2015, 05:29:08 AM
My current GPU is Nvidia 770 GTX and I'm looking to upgrade it soonish. Looking at my options, I have a few:

970 GTX: apparently only has 3.5 GB usable memory, but would be cheap. Might need to upgrade it again soon, though.
980 GTX: expensive but seems to be the strongest affordable option available right now
980 Ti: apparently is coming very soon, will have 6 GB memory and will be usable for a while in the future?

Currently I'm leaning towards waiting for the 980 Ti, if it does indeed get released within a couple of months. Seems the price will be similar to the current 980 GTX, too.

Any recommendations?

Depends on what you are playing, really.

Most hardware experts seem to recommend the GTX 970 from a price/performance perspective.

If you choose the GTX 980, go for MSI's Gaming card. It's very cool and quiet.
