Option 2: fact?

I realised that the older I get, I am more interested in books about fact (history, politics, philosophy, anthropology etc.) than reading a novel.
It's been the opposite for me. The older I am, the less "fact" books I read. There's a bit of a perverse mechanism at play because of my job, though, I'm finding myself with less and less time to read, and a good fiction book will probably teach me a thing or two about writing and storytelling.
Fact. I only very rarely read fiction. But then I very rarely read non-Engineering stuff these days sadly.
I still read mostly fiction but I agree with you Martinus.
Fiction is full of young characters doing dumb things & making dumb choices before going on a melancholy trip down "will she suck my cock" road.
Maybe 90% nonfiction.
The bible.

He was way more defensive about it too.
After he wrote "I got lost, OKAY?! You could have said something! I thought you were enjoying it!"

I've always been pretty split, and that hasn't really changed much. What has changed though is my tolerance for poor fiction - a lot of stuff I used to think was readable I don't have time for anymore.
About 50/50, but more in waves than an even split.
Mostly nonfiction. Rarely fact.
Primarily non-fiction, though I've been branching off to novels lately. I am pretty picky about the novels I deign to read, however.
For historical stuff I prefer documentaries. To read I prefer fiction.
Pretty evenly split for me between fact and fiction, and I probably read more fiction lately as it's reading for entertainment. Sometimes I can really go through a good fiction or sci-fi novel fast. Historical fiction is good as it sometimes has a good historical background to the story, so kind of both there fact/fiction.

Same here, pretty much.
