I'll just stick with posting my bullshit, I'll let you do the pithy. :)

11B thought I had a lisp.
I get it.
I liked it, but I'm also pretty drunk.
It must be annoying to be a republicans. You have to disagree with almost everything Obama says but then he mentions the military and BOOM you gotta stand up smile & applaud him. Gotta be quite annoying.

Yeah, you can't fully fall asleep otherwise you'll miss those points.
Obama should talk on about wealth inequality, then suddenly say "God bless our troops!" and see how many Reps fail to stand and applaud.
Is that your kid HMBOB?
(In your avatar, I mean)
I think... Joe Biden needs to learn to tie a tie like a grown up. The four in hand method simply doesn't cut it for adults.
I think CdM pretty much summed up the state of the union in the thread title. Meh.
I just watched "The Man in the High Castle" and just like Obama's SOTU speech it takes place in an alternate reality.

It is a disgrace. No applause for equal pay or minimum wage increase? but raise for soldiers? I get it that Republicans are playing some politics but come on, are they that insensitive?

No applause for...minimum wage increase?
Why would they applaud for something they view as a negative?
Skipped it to watch basketball. Wish I had watched the Flyers-Penguins game. Highlights were awesome.
The Onion posted the word cloud from the state of the Union address:

Well, that's the problem with Obama's speech right there. He should have said 'Everything is Awesome' more often instead. :D
The few clips I heard made the Republicans sound like a petty bunch of school kids. Particularly the time Obama started a sentence by saying he wouldn't be in running in another election and the Republicans started applauding. Although I thought Obama's rejoinder to be fairly witty.
It used to be that the office of the President was respected even if one didn't agree with the person who holds the office. It seems to be that State of the Union addresses are an occasion where respect for the office should be demonstrated.
I say we do away with the dog & pony show and go back to the Prez just submitting it to Congress in writing.
He should text the Congress instead.

That 1% increase the past two years. And decrease in housing allowance this year. :mmm:
We need to stop the megathreads.
Can we stage an intervention for Seedy?

Actually the cheering started in the First Lady's box, not with the GOP. However, the overly enthusiastic support was petty, quickly trumped by Obama's even greater petulance.

equal pay, as in what we have in Quebec is counter-productive. There are more women being top earner in an american family than in Quebec. Minimum wage increase just don't improve the poor's conditions that much, so it's just something to look up well to the electorate with no real effect. Eventually, companies will just delocalize their low-pay jobs to places where it's even lower. We should instead push for higher education and more specialized jobs that are harder to delocalize than the lady sewing pants in a Montreal sweatshop.
