I liked him.  An important part of the positive trend of increasing black nerds.

Whether you liked him or not, he was an integral part of ESPN's success for 20 years, and came up with a lot of the best talent on ESPN back in the day.  And while a lot of them left--Eisen, Kilborn, Patrick, Steiner--he stayed and made a comfortable connection to its past.
