Bring out the coffee and apple pie...

Bah, Showtime. :(
Yeah, I don't get Showtime either...but, um, there are alternative ways.
I don't know why they bother. You cannot possibly repeat the magic, so why waste time and talent trying? There are many original ideas that are better worth the investment. If they were following up on a more conventional show, it might be worth it. But you cannot pre-plan quirkiness.
I hope they don't repeat the magic. I hope they create something equally magical. There's a not-so-subtle difference.

You can't duplicate an original and be original.

I'm with grumbler on this one.

Huge number of established fans lowers the marketing risk.

All true.
They'll fuck it up.

No. But my point is they can do something totally unexpected with it and still be magical.

Like Fargo the movie and Fargo the tv show? :)
Yes.

Boomers are the main audience for TV, as the younger generations have started to retreat from it.
Just wait for the thirtysomething relaunch, sixtysomething.
They should just Timmay it up, and throw in Transformers and shit in it.

It will turn out that Laura Palmer was killed by a Decepticon. Or maybe King Kong.
I'm a huge fan of David Lynch; I see this as another chance of seeing Lynch doing "mainstream" work. It may crash and burn, but it's also the opportunity to see some unique TV. So I'm all for it.
The original was certainly lightning in a bottle - I recall Lynch talking about how he created the "Bob" character after he saw the actor (actually a carpenter) crouching in set to fix a bed and thinking he looked so creepy he cast him on the spot.
As Wiggins said, it doesn't need to be "exactly like" the original show to be great, like the Fargo series.

That's a good benchmark, yes.

:hmm: You know, that's a very good point. Objection withdrawn.
But I'll still predict disaster.

He provided an example, but it is your statement that I am agreeing with.
Did this give anyone else goosepimples?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I am looking forward to this.

One thing David Lynch does very well is cast super duper hotties.
Is Kyle MacLachlan going to be in it?

Yeah, Cheryl Lee was a true babe back in the day, hasn't aged well though. Little school girl brunette had a tight body as well.

Looks so:

Better fire up that percolator and find my black suit :-) #Twinpeaks
Sweet! I will give it a shot then.

I read somewhere that they are going to bring back as much of the original cast as possible, including MacLachlan.
