Today sees the hundredth anniversary of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, my question, can you envisage a scenario today that might lead to the major European powers finding themselves in a major war, not by early August, but say by the end of this year to allow for the lack of the widespread tensions of early 1914 ?
I should also say said scenario doesn't have to be about the major European powers finding themselves at war with each other, you could describe one whereby they become embroiled in a general war in the middle east or with Russia, as examples.

lulz
I suppose if Putin changes his mind and invades Ukraine and follows that up with an invasion of the Baltic States it could happen.
But that's not gonna happen so the answer is no.
I'd say that Russia is one of course, if they move into the Baltics then NATO is supposed to get involved. Who knows though given the fecklessness of the civilized nations if they'd get into a major war. Another sleeper possibility depends on how well ISIS does, how far they progress. If they can consolidate and expand, and become too much of a threat in the Mid East towards Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia or Turkey (NATO member) then perhaps European nations may feel a need to get involved in a big way?

With the World Cup going on we shouldn't be surprised if an immediate war breaks out over a loss, especially if it entails a questionable call by a referee! ;)

Put four or five armies in Indonesia when it is your turn, and go nuts.

But make sure somebody else hasn't already started building up in Oceania, or you're just draining both of your resources for a measly 2 bonus armies.

It's worth it if you garrison Indochina as a bulwark and then repeatedly attack neighboring countries for RISK cards, pulling back all of your forces afterward, to the annoyance of everyone on the board.
